The U.S. Postal Service has more tax delinquents in its ranks than any other federal agency or department, according to Internal Revenue Service data.

Maybe their tax payments got lost in the mail.

The U.S. Postal Service turns out to have more tax delinquents in its ranks than any other federal agency or department, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

IRS statistics from 2008 detailing the amount of money federal workers failed to pay the government in taxes showed postal service employees owed $297.93 million -- nearly 10 percent of the $3.04 billion owed by federal employees and retirees from dozens of agencies.

Federal employees go by the Leona Helmsley rule: Only the little people pay taxes.
She went to jail. Why don’t these public serpents go to the Graybar Hotel?

The USPS is probably the best postal service in any large nation. So if the USPS is any guide, we will at least have the most efficient socialized medicine in the whole world.

You'll be quite lucky to get serviced under Obamacare.

Notice that USPS employees owe 10% of the total amount.

The other 90% are owed by all the other agencies.

So, think about it a minute ~ how many USPS employees are there and how many "other" government employees are there, and how much does each owe.

I think you get the picture ~ USPS has about 750,000. There were, in 2008, 4,208,000 federal military and civilian employees (including USPS). We end up with: USPS employees, a mere 17.8% of the total federal workforce, owing 10% of the taxes outstanding, and all the others, constituting 82.2% owing the other 90%.

The implication is clear, the 17.8% who owe 10% are almost twice as dedicated to paying their taxes than all the others.

I suspect your government paid doctors will be riffling through your pockets for loose change once they get you dressed out for serious gut surgery.

The actual numbers almost make postal employees look good or at least not nearly as bad as the rest of the federal sector. And what is the tax owed by the average 750,000 people in the US? Without such data, the information in the article is flawed in providing a true measure of relative turpitude.

But feeding outrage, not "higher math" is the staple at Fox News where they leave such ciphering to the pointy heads and instead concentrate on supplying a lovely assortment of short-skirted news babes.

I guess it's good therapy for some to have their Two Minute Hate. I never realized how evil and worthless we Postal employees were until I started reading some of the posts from the rabid anti-government crowd. NOW they tell me government work is sinful!

The only thing the USgov could make that would suck less would be a vacuum cleaner.
