800,000 Doses Of Kids' H1N1 Vaccine Recalled ATLANTA (CBS) ―
Health officials are recalling hundreds of thousands of doses of swine flu vaccine after tests indicated they may not be potent enough to protect against the virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified doctors about the recall Tuesday. The recall involves about 800,000 doses made by Sanofi Pasteur. The doses are pre-filled syringes intended for young children, ages 6 months to almost three years.
Health officials recommend children those ages get two doses, spaced about a month apart.
Health officials say it's not clear how many doses have already been given, but they don't think children need to be re-vaccinated. The lots passed potency tests when they were first shipped, but tests indicate the potency waned after.

This has been a fiasco. Still can’t get the vaccine locally unless you are “at risk” and go to the health department.
Oh S&^%.....
No "risk" restrictions.
Bush's fault.
Another crisis sham.
Just add more mercury it’ll be o.k.
obviously the gubmint was quite familiar with the qualities of this product before they instructed doctors to inject it into children
sarc
Now they are making it sound like they are recalling it from the doctors even though the gubmint has been in total control of development and distribution
Vitamin D ping!
If you ask me, nobody needs it anyway. This whole flu thing was blown way out of proportion.
This was a social experiment....How many would submit voluntarily and how many would have to be "forced" to submit. Someone read the rule on the doctors today...And it's there!!
And then there's the "why are there two different types of vaccines???"
But we do still need the headlines to propagate as the incompetence unwinds. Keep it in the forefront of folks minds that this was much government ado about nothing and no more than a calculated and pre-planned scare tactic attempt.
Well, this explains why our pediatrician called last week and asked us to bring our young son back in for a second shot without much of an explanation.
Absolutely...and not only did they scare people about the seriousness of the flu, but they confirmed to many, who were concerned about taking vaccine, that had very little testing, that they were right.
I think by now, if you dont distrust this governement, you have been living in a cave. I would almost do and believe the opposite of anything they say.
Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Sanofi-Aventis SA recalled 800,000 doses of swine flu vaccine after testing showed the potency of the batches was too low, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement today.
Doctors who have unused shots from the batches should return them, the CDC said today. The shots remain safe, and people who have already been inoculated dont need to get revaccinated, according to the Atlanta-based agency.
The shots passed potency tests when they first shipped, and their potency dropped in subsequent tests by 10 to 12 percent, said Anne Schuchat, head of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC, in a telephone interview.
The recalled shots are preservative-free syringes of a low- dose version made for children ages 6 months through 25 months, she said. There are no remaining preservative-free shots available for children under 2 years old*. The preservative, called thimerosal, has been shown repeatedly in studies to be safe, though some parents are wary of it, Schuchat said.
Sanofi said it began delivering swine flu vaccine in the U.S. in September, with the bulk of deliveries expected in the fourth quarter.
*So if there are no remaining shots..then how can they recall 800,000 doses? What's the real story here?
sw
It was in a syringe so it was not the live virus.
It was in a syringe so it was not the live virus.
It was in a syringe so it was not the live virus.
This is why I told you not to get it for any one.
In my opinion, the lack of this drug is a good thing. I’d sooner stick a hot poker up my butt than take one of these government-produced shots. This is just another, in a litany of cases, where Government cannot do anything right. For this statement, I do not consider our Armed Forces part of the ‘government’.
