You are correct, but we need to give LOUD VOICE and spread the word that BO is threatening to close the air base in Nebraska... the backlash will harden Nelson’s position against the bill. If you know ANYONE in Nebraska, tell them.
Maybe Ben Nelson should reach across to his old buddy Chuck Hagel. Nelson used to be a Republican, maybe it’s time to be one again.
If not, you can put a fork in him.
I didn’t think the White House was supposed to HAVE the power to add a base to the BRAC list. I thought that was the reason for the BRAC Commission in the first place.

Call your own senators even if they are voting NO, ask them how they can let the VA cuts and the new fees for the retired Military insurance Tri Care for Life go through. Tell them NO compromise bill!
I've already called Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander's offices, along with Liberman's. This IMPACTS all the US, not just their puny states, therefore you have a right to contact any and all of them.

Yes, Offutt is where GWBush went on 9/11. Before the national news came out, I got a call from my wife who said the local media reported that Air Force One was at Offutt, and GWBush was in the underground bunker.
I have seen countless air shows at Offutt over the years. In fact, the Blue Angels and Thunerbirds would fly over my house in Bellevue during their shows. I even saw the space shuttle land there on a 747 on its way back to Florida one year.
I even had the priveledge of getting a guided tour of the underground strategic complex one time. Got to see the “big board” just like they show in the movies.

The BRAC is finalized in 2005. Cannot add and subtract bases to the list by the executive branch.
According to the BRACK lists I have from 2005, no Florida base is on it - no Offut AFB.
