I've been through good and bad on DU since 2001, but this was the most disgusting, hurtful thing I've had to witness in politics. Not even that loss to Bush in '04 had me as disgusted as I am now. ---- I started doing this in 2004. Until the dems become the party of the people again, they'll not see my vote or my financial support.

This morning at a Target store I spotted this woman, whom I could tell just by the look on her face, was a typical lib. I got in the checkout line behind her and as she was paying for her purchases I asked her, "How is that hope and change thing working out"? She got so upset she accidentally spilled the contents of her purse out onto the floor. The checkout lady put her hand over her mouth to hide her laughter and I just shrugged my shoulders and said "She seems to be wound up pretty tight".
DU is simply a bizarre site to read. While there may be folks being paid to blog radical views, there are definitely some people in this country who have frightening views on how we should be governed.
it is funny until you consider that these people are presumably americans also and that they can vote too, at which point I concluded this type of growing social/political divide cannot end well.
Historically, it could be expected to end with the formation of a much more authoritarian system, possibly keeping the trappings of the current government (perhaps the first triumvirate did this in rome?) We are at a crisis point now, in this context.
It could also turn out very violently, which is where I think the motivation for the obama brown shirts is coming from.

They do get angry fast. I was wearing one of my fave shirts - “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder” and was accosted by an angry bike riding loon who did a yelling drive-by diatribe. Quite funny actually. I just marvelled at how easily he proved my point.
They’re also melting down at daily kooks, calling 0bama a 1-termer, all hat and no cattle, etc.
Are they talking about Scarborough? Wasn’t there some dead women found in his office when he was in Congress?
They have this weird refrain of “people are dying”. I wonder if it ever occured to them that even if the healthcare bill passes and is good and wonderful and worth the money, people will still die.
Or is this people dying thing a constant with libs?
