President Obama Defends Senate Health Care Bill, Says It Will Pass
ABC ^ | 12/16/09 | Karen Travers

President Obama pushed back against critics, including the former head of the Democratic Party, who have said that the health care bill in the Senate is fatally flawed and should be scrapped altogether.

In an interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson, the president said he laid out for Congress specific things he wanted to see in the health care legislation -- including providing insurance for millions of uninsured and not driving up the deficit -- and that the current bill still has those benefits.

"Now, if you can tell me that those things are not worth it, then you and I have a very different opinion about what the task is here," he said.

But Dr. Howard Dean, former Democratic National Committee chairman and a medical doctor, charged this week that the Senate bill has been so watered down that it is no longer worth supporting.

What I truly do not understand is why we cannot have a bill with tort reform and insurance access across state lines. Why is it that all of this crap is shoved down our throats? I am so tired of Washington, no one cares about this country, it is all about them.

We actually had a presidential candidate run on that as his idea of healthcare reform. But the idiots in the GOP ignored him and gave their votes to nanny staters like Huck, Mitt and Mccain instead.

I’m out of the loop a bit lately (working, thank God) but I did get to listen to Hannity in the car this afternnon for a little while. DeMint and Coburn were on the line with him and they said they have parliamentary procedures in place to hold the bill up til Christmas Eve! What are the odds of Dingy Harry keeping the Senate in session until Christmas Eve?!?!

Pelosi has dismissed the House for Christmas (or as they like to say “the holidays”) and said nothing is happening with health care till around the State of The Union.

This all sounds promising...but I count on NOTHING.

The good part of all this is that the Pubbie Senators, all 40 of them, are holding fast against this disaster. Even Snowe and Collins! Of course, my guess is that the RINO sisters are reading the poll results and that’s why they’re sticking with the rest of the party. But whatever the reason, it’s a good thing. Let this bill have only the Democrat brand on it so it will be identified with them come next November and in 2012.

I just got off a conference call with Sen Cornyn. He said the forty Republicans (yes Snowe and Collins, too) are standing against this bill.

How can the Rats get 60 votes before Christmas if Kennedy's seat is still empty?

I don’t know. Might cost more than the 300 million that Landreau needed though.

If the rats were serious about healthcare “reform”, those two items would be in the bill - front and center.

Kennedy’s seat has an interim appointee. I suppose we can hope Byrd gets sick.

KEEP CALLING. If we don’t ring the phones off the hook, we will lose.

Reid is determined to push this thru on Christmas Day, convinced that people will be distracted and not care. I feel differently - they are ruining Christmas for everyone by this ridiculous, artificial deadline.
