Clinton: Failure a "colossal blunder"
SFGate: Politics Blog ^ | 12/17/9 | Carolyn Lochhead, Chronicle Washington Bureau

Nebraska Democratic holdout Sen. Ben Nelson has declared "not sufficient" the compromise abortion language offered to him, and is digging in by raising numerous other objections to the Senate health bill. His fellow home-state Senator, Republican Mike Johanns, joined a GOP press conference today railing against the legislation, reading aloud condemnations from Nebraska's governor, also a Republican, to intensify the pressure on Nelson. He appears not to need it.

Former President Bill Clinton, who a few weeks ago wowed Democrats in their Senate luncheon chamber, clearly agrees with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's argument, and disagrees with Howard Dean's. He called (the imminent?) failure to pass the bill a "colossal blunder."

Well, if anyone knows about “failures” and “colossal blunders,” it’s ol’ BJ.

Are we to believe that 58 dem senators are in nazi lockstep supporting this and Nelson and Liberman are the only ones expressing concern?

Nice to hear from Bill Clinton.

Why have the Clintons been so silent in this healthcare debate? Why isn’t Hillary out there helping force this down everyone’s throats? I know she has a different job now and all that. But, as the face of the previous Democrat healthcare reform effort, why don’t they use her to push this??????? That effort was part of her 35 years of experience in making change that she bragged about when she ran for president.

Don’t worry, Snow and Collins will save the day for them and let Nelson and all the Dems off the hook.

Well, I’m sure now that Bill Clinton has weighed in, that will convince Nelson, Lieberman, Lincoln, Landrieu, etc. that they need to vote for this. (sarcasm)

Heck, Bill might even persuade Snowe and Collins to cross the aisle. Can he use his charm on the two Maine ladies?

You know as well as I do. Hillary or Bill Clinton associated with healthcare is sure death. Might remind people of their fiasco which our Republicans should be reminding the public of day and night.

If Nelson was smart he should jump ship and swim over the GOP. That will give him.cover if he withholds his vote for this healthcare debacle. He’s deadmeat in Nebraska if he votes for it.

Why is it when a politician accepts a bribe ...they go to jail but when Senator Landreiu of LA accepts $300 million from Ubama for her vote on Health care ....it is no big deal ??

I heard Ben Nelson is being offered $500 million to spend as he sees fit in his state ....why is this NOT A CRIME ??

He just wants Obama to lose the House, like he did.

It is a crime and a bribe. Someone has to object. I am not sure anyone in Washington or nationaly has the courage to object and prosecute

No, the GOP is sticking together on this one.

Even they can't stomach this mess of a Bill.

Can he use his charm on the two Maine ladies?

Well, maybe they're beyond that; but Snowe could use a nose job. Bill could afford that.

I was just watching FOX and the consensus on the panel is that Nelson will get what he wants and they will have the votes. Looks like there’s a very good chance it will get to the floor soon.

Hmm, yes, some input from The Impeached One to consider.

Any word what Jimmy Carter and Cynthia McKinney have to say?

Or perhaps Michael Dukkakis and John Effing Kerry?

Has anyone asked Al Gore if government health control has also been exposed as a hoax via whistleblower emails?

I would like to hear from a broad selection of the Embarassing-Beyond-Words-Traitor Democrat pantheon before I make up my mind...
