After barely four weeks in office, President Barack Obama signs into law Tuesday a legislative achievement that eclipses entire terms of some contemporary presidents. The stimulus legislation has the real potential of creating more than 3 million jobs, most in the private sector and many rebuilding an aging public infrastructure. The new law assists those most in need of basic health care, job training, and in the near term, unemployment benefits and food.
No one could blame Obama for being a bit chagrined at the GOPs disengagement from all this, notwithstanding the presidents charm and offers of substantive compromise. Republican Judd Greggs withdrawal as the nominee for the Commerce post was thus true to form. The only reason Gregg gave for withdrawing was that he didnt want to help. It just occurred to me that it would be very difficult to serve this Cabinet, or any Cabinet, for that matter, and be part of the team Confessing that one wont or doesnt know how to play with others is not an adult reaction to the urgent needs of the time. Has the GOP been reduced to the sum of its worst parts: namely, a political party with scarcely an original thought that now only remembers how to secure office largely by denigrating the values, hopes and planning of others?
The Republicans need to break free of an economic theory that was drafted on economist Arthur B. Laffers napkin. Supply-side theory may have sufficed at a different time, but giving the wealthy more reasons not to notice that 90 percent of the wealth is held by 1 percent of the nation takes no account of the present economic reality.

He also attacks Judd Gregg for backing out of being Commerce Sexretary and then waxes philosophically if Obama could "kill" the GOP with his massive popularity and charms.
HEY DOUG....HOW'S THAT HOPE AND CHANGE WORKIN OUT FOR YA??!?

Make sure to preamble your e-mails with “Hey dumbass,”.
It’s kind of like Savage Love was, back in the day.
What a smuck.
Proof that Kmiec is in a position that way over his head.
Liberals are all symbolism over substance. They see things the way they think they should be not the way they really are. In other words, they’re delusional.
Doesn’t Kmiec pretend to be pro life too? What a laugh. Yet he said 0 would bring us all together on this issue. Pretty pathetic that so many people allowed themselves to be duped.
What a fag.
He holds the Caruso Chair so he thinks he must sing Obama’s praises.
And here, presumably a guy who held a little fiscal conservatism in his value system is lauding Porkulus. If he's offered the slightest bit of criticism to date, I'm unaware of it. How the hell do you just 180 on deeply held beliefs like that?
Being an intellectual pimp for your politician of choice is an ugly business.
He should be out in the next round of layoffs, what an embarrassment
Just a guess but I’ll bet the paperwork to get any of this stimulus is 400 pages deep.
Hey Doug, stay the hell in Malta. And, oh, by the way, we have signed you up for membership in the Episcopal Church. You’ll feel right at home there.
3 more chairs, he could have a dining room set.
I love the “institutional memory” of Freepers like you, St. Louis Conservative! Thanks for reminding us of the stupidity of RINOs like Kmiec. Good riddance to them all!
Getting ready for a big December snowstorm this weekend... It must be global warming, right Al? This storm is going right over your Tennessee mansion with that massive carbon footprint. How fitting following Copenhagen!
Have a good weekend.
“where are you now Doug??”
He’s probably busy helping the United Methodists convince Ben Nelson that abortion is a medical benefit for the poor.
