The U.S. has launched two missile strikes against Al Qaeda targets in Yemen, two U.S. officials told Fox News, signaling an escalation of the Obama administration's fight against the terrorist organization.
The politically sensitive strikes Thursday, first reported by ABC News, supplement efforts already under way by the government of Yemen to go after Al Qaeda in the country, the officials told Fox News, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the operation.
Such an operation is particularly sensitive in Yemen. "It's very difficult for Yemen to ask the U.S. for help given the nature of their population and its views about the West," one official said. "And the U.S. doesn't want to compromise their ability to ask for help."
The United States has faced similar concerns in Pakistan, where reports of U.S. drone attacks on militants are common -- but never acknowledged publicly by the U.S. or by Pakistan.
In the new attacks, cruise missiles on Obama's orders hit a suspected Al Qaeda training camp north of Sanaa, the capital, and another site, where terrorists were thought to be plotting an attack on the U.S., ABC News reported, citing unnamed administration officials.
A Yemeni official contacted by ABC News insisted that the attacks were carried out by Yemen, not the United States. Yemeni forces also reportedly have targeted Al Qaeda in raids conducted at three locations.

Did we hit an aspirin factory????
Didn’t Clinton do something like this to “Change Our Attention” from his failed attempt of an affair?
Well ain’t that something.
day by day, i believe more-so that, not only does obummer want to destroy the United States, he wants to ignite WW3!
Yemen IS another Vietnam!
Where is the Exit strategy?!
Hey, Hey BHO!
How many kids did you kill today?!
I had the same thought. Barry knows 0bamacare is doomed and then there’s Copenhagen.
Was it as successful as Copenhagen?

If true, this is one of the few times I can say “good job, Obama”. I’m assuming they were acting on solid intel, regardless of the “wedding” spin that is sure to follow from Yemen.
Thank you for the bump Jet Jaguar.
ON THE INTERNET:
I think Barry knows a lot more than he’s willing to talk about and the last few weeks are putting a reality check in his face...His “charm” has become transparent to a lot of Americans and he knows it’s only a matter of time before the truth prevails!
Oh...oh, black market aspirin is En Vogue again.
Iran is stirring up big trouble in Yemen and had been for awhile. The Saudi Nat’l Guard has been in attack mode for months, bombing bronze-age villages back to the stone age. It is only new news here.
Iran is giving arms to some big ethnic tribe in northern Yemen. They are causing trouble in both Yemen and Saudi.
If a pro-Iranian regime takes over Yemen, big trouble for oil shipments to the Euros, and us.
The Saudis probably called us in on this.
Busy area of the world, hey?
WAG THE DOG! Because of the failure in Copenhagen...

Article In IRGC Weekly: Saudi Arabia Is Playing With Fire In Yemen
An article in the weekly of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Sobh-e Sadeq, stated that with its military involvement in Yemen, Saudi Arabia is playing with fire, and that this fire is likely to spread to its territory and to cause a tsunami that will topple the Saudi and Egyptian regimes.
The article stated that Saudi Arabia was behind operations such as spreading Wahhabism in Yemen, reinforcing the Salafi and Wahhabi streams in Lebanon, dispatching Wahhabi terrorists to Iraq, supporting the Ba’th in Iraq, and organizing the Sunni opposition group Jundallah in Iran.

Wow that sounds soooooo depressing...
Bouncing the rubble.
This was likely done at the behest of the Saudis. They’re the ones who have the most to lose if Al Qaeda gets a solid foothold in Yemen.

SNIPPET: “According security sources, the second man in al-Qaeda in Yemen, Qasem al-Raimi, survived the attack on the 8 would-be suicide bombers in Arhab at the far east of Sana’a province at the borders of Marib and al-Jawf provinces.
Al-Raimi and Hezam Mujali and a third man believed to be an Arab, escaped at the last minute before the attack started on the 8 suicide bombers who were in the next door.
About 10 of al-Qaeda elements of those who were killed in the Thursday’s attacks on terror hideouts in Abyan , were not Yemenis, the security sources said on Friday.
The sources said that analysis of the dead bodies is continuing to know the identities of all those killed in those operations.
The sources confirmed that the leader of al-Qaeda in Abyan, Mohammed Saleh al-Kazimi, was among those who were killed in the attacks on the training camp in al-Majalah area, al-Mahfad, Abyan province, south of the country.
A group of 30 of al-Qaeda fighters were killed in the training camp in al-Majalah according to the official statement.
For the operation in Arhab, in which four of the 8 suicide bombers, aged 17-20, were killed and four were arrested, the sources said, the 13 terrorists who were arrested in the city of Sana’a at the same time, were supposed to help the bombers implement their tasks against Yemeni and Western targets. The arrests took place without any clashes, the raids on the house were according to very accurate information about the men.
sources confirmed that the leader of al-Qaeda in Arhab area, Aref Mujali, brother of Hezam Mujali, was arrested in the operation.
Aref and Hezam Mujali are the sons of Yahya Mujali, an al-Qaeda operative who was killed in his house in clashes with security forces in al-Rawdha area in the city of Sana’a in 2003.”
We'll replace any terrorist we kill with another one...
The Yemeni’s now believe that Nobama won the “Pieces” prize.
A. weakened America...or some combination of the above.
B. strengthened islam
C. attacked Israel
Can you cite something -anything- of substance that hes done that doesnt fit A, B and/or C?
(Arguably this one action might not fit)
We aren't wasting missiles on EMPTY BUILDINGS again are we?
Saw this story as reported by Brian Ross on Charles Gibson’s last night on ABC WN. The first five minutes reminded me why I never watch it. This story and the Copenhagen story followed by healthcare with Faux Dr. Timothy Johnson were each pro-Obama as hero commercials.
In how many counties are we going to disregard sovereignty? Obama has no right to do that!! That camp is no threat to our soil. When will our sovereignty be raped in the manner and justified with our own conduct? Who made us the policeman of the world? Stop this madness.
Did that have an invisible </sarc> tag?
Somebody check DU they must be thrilled with this escalation by warmonger Ogabe.
hennie pennie ~ Wow that sounds soooooo depressing...
It was worse in Afghanistan. We substantially raised the standard of living by bombing some areas UP to the stone age.
Seriously. Afghanis found it easier to gather gemstones from areas where bombs broke up the rocks.
hopefully, you won’t mind if i steal that rhetorical question? it’s a keeper!
The U.S. has launched two missile strikes against Al Qaeda targets in Yemen, two U.S. officials told Fox News, signaling an escalation of the Obama administration's fight against the terrorist organization.Yemen sez, 'no, we did it.' Meanwhile, the US sez that the UAE has a better airforce than Iran, and no one in the UAE said, "no we don't". :')
Mind? HELL NO! All I ask is that you spread it far and wide, and should you ever get an answer, please let me know what it is!
That’s why I asked.
Check his (her?) posting history. At first blush it seems to be solidly on our side.
Good info - where did you get it? I haven’t seen it on Stratfor...
air raiding villages and killing civilians
actually, one thing i can think of is that m.o. (the immaculate one married to the messiah) planted a “victory garden.” God knows that many of us will have one of those in the NEAR future.
What? Yemen never attacked the US! OBAMA IS A WAR CRIMINAL!
Gonna get creamed for this.
For all his faults, and for as much as I hate his politics, the war on terror is the one area I don’t give Zero an F-.
Soros must want Al Qaeda under control.
Yes they did. That is where the USS COLE attack took place.
