Yep.
Wonder what the price was.

Did we even expect a different outcome?

Next up, amnesty for illegals.
It is all coming together for an infinite rule under Dems.

OK, Freepers - fire up the email, fax, phone, and visits to your local offices. Let them know - I will not even say “respectfully,” because they do not deserve it - nonthreateningly, of course - it is not too late to vote against this pathetic bill that is just one more entitlement. I just sent about 30 faxes myself, so act quickly! Let them know that they do not deserve reelection, also.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone. Anyone with a (D) after their name is a turncoat by definition. Now, we’ll see how many (R)s cross the aisle and vote for the bill, under the excuse that ‘it will pass anyway...’.

This after the Governor of Nebraska asked both Senators NOT to vote in favor of the bill, as it will impose burdensome tax obligations on the people of Nebraska.

This is a perfect example why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed.

Blizzard Warning in effect until 6 pm. Current conditions at BWI. 6 inches of snow on the ground. Additional 8 to 12 inches expected today. Another 4 to 8 inches tonight. Total forecast accumulation, 21 to 22 inches. And Senator Lieberman is in Connecticut.

C’mon, did ANYONE think he wouldn’t cave? Now we have CommieCare and there is no turning back. We will NEVER have the 2/3rd majority to overturn this.

This is why Obama, Pelosi, et al wanted this so bad. We are now on the road to HARD COMMUNISM (with an elite class of leading billionaire Democrats) and it will just get worse and worse.

McConnell and Boehner, like Frist and Hastert, all complicit. They never fought hard enough and never made compelling cases.

Its all over now, Baby Blue. We have been royally f**ked by our ruling elite and union/minorities.

Gee, I am sure am glad that we pumped trillions into trying to help the minorities, only to have them turn on us and ruin the country. Let this be a lesson when the economy crashes and burns and we start all over again.

Nelson disclosed his decision as Majority leader Harry Reid unveiled a final series of changes to the measure, including concessions to Nelson on abortion, Medicaid funding for his state and more.

The legislation includes new limits designed to limit insurance company profits and overhead, by requiring them to spend 80 percent of their premium income on medical care for individual insurance policies, and 85 percent for group policies.

On abortion, the measure would let a state disallow coverage in new insurance exchanges by passing a law to that effect. Additionally, it sets up a mechanism to segregate funds that would be used to pay for abortions from federal subsidy dollars flowing to health plans.

THEY DON’T CARE!! When the illegals get amnesty, its a permanent Democratic majority with all the bad things that entails.

If you know how hateful and violent our minority communities can be, they now run the show.

Better stock up on those firearms, because they will be coming after your money, food, and everything else. You won’t stand a chance, of course, because Obama is the gangleader in Chief and the Crips/Bloods/LatinKings (aka, Democratic Party) have all the firepower they need.

Agree with others who have posted here. The end of America is now complete. And anybody who thinks the November 2010 elections will offer an opportunity to change anything - get your heads out of the sand. Once they pass the Amnesty Bill - and they will - all of those illegals, and their vast numbers of relatives who will be allowed to walk into the USA anytime they want to. All of who will vote for Democrats ad infinitum. Forget it everybody. It’s is over. We now live in AMERIKA - on it’s way to a Banana Republic. Sad to say, but true.

Why is Lieberman voting for this bill?

Because he knows that his "independent" phase will no longer be tolerated by the powers that be. He and Ben Nelson - and anyone else voting for this abomination - would much rather be part of the boot than the face which gets crushed by the boot's heel.

Let's assume the dems see this thing through and we all get rationed government clinic medicine. What is the next move?

IMHO, we would then face exactly the same situation we now have with public schools, with the same long-term political strategy. The public plan is the fallback default option. Higher income people will opt out into higher quality private systems. The upper-middle and middle classes will try hard to move up. And so we have another voucher debate.

I believe that we will eventually win on school choice. While I don't look forward to slogging through the slow-motion bankruptcy of Obamacare, I believe we will also eventually win on individual choice in health care. What skews the debate now is the employer-based delivery system which dominates private health insurance today. Obamacare will destroy that in short order, and it needs to go to rationalize the debate.

Conservatives naturally will be angry and we will want to vent our anger but it will not do to be nearsighted.

We have years of history since the 94 elections to look at and we have, especially, the Bush years and mistakes enough to tell us that this battle was not lost when Harry Reid finally found Ben Nelson's price, or when they finally found enough votes to put big mouth in Minnesota into the United States Senate.

It was lost when no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq and Bush declined to defend his administration on this or virtually any other issue especially after he won his own reelection. It was lost when Bush pushed billions of dollars into AIDS in Africa, when he got cozy with Ted Kennedy on education and established a brand-new medical entitlement for kids. It was lost when he turned a blind eye on every disreputable earmark that went through every appropriations bill. It was lost when Republican congressman after Republican Congressman turned venal. It was lost when Tom DeLay got into bed with the K St. crowd. It was lost when McCain and Grahamnasty started sleeping with the enemy.

It was lost when Republicans turned their face from conservatism.

It can be anything Mr. Reid and his pals want to dream up in their private, well-appointed Capitol Hill sitting rooms.

“The irony is,” said Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond (D-MO), “the president campaigned on total transparency. … What kind of bill is this?”

Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) told me that the request for lawmakers to vote on such a massive bill sight unseen was unprecedented. “I haven’t seen anything like this on a bill of this magnitude,” he mused.

“Unbelievable,” Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) said. It is the “most closed process” he has seen in his lifetime.

Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) was pretty fired up. “I’ve been in elected office for 32 years. … Here we are with a 2,074-page bill and no one knows what’s in this bill.”

Senator Mike Johanns comes from Nebraska, the same state as wavering Democratic Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE). “About a week from now,” Johanns laments, “we’ll cast a final vote redesigning everyone’s health care and today we don’t know what’s in a final bill.”

Johanns observed that even Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill), the second-ranking Democrat, confessed he was kind of clueless about what would be in the final bill. Durbin admitted on the Senate floor on December 10: “Most of us know the fundamentals, but we don’t know the important details.”

But isn’t this the era of the Obama presidency, where there was supposed to be openness and transparency in government?

On January 21, 2009, the president issued an eloquent statement — almost poetic — on how information can really be a truly valuable national asset:

Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset.

So here we are, eleven months into his young administration, and we are seeing a pivotal bill born of the worst possible process: no openness, tons of secrecy, and back room wheeling and dealing.

And are the “good government” types screaming? How about those ethics groups? Are they foaming at the mouth?

The reality is that hardball Democratic Party practices do not seem to connect with Democratic Party ideals. Their idea of governing is to cut deals behind closed doors, to anoint winners and pummel losers. Has anyone told them it is the most corrosive and cynical way to govern in a democracy?

The Washington Post laconically reported last Monday:

The full contents of the legislation probably will not be known until Tuesday, at the earliest, when the Congressional Budget Office is expected to provide an official cost analysis.

That was last Tuesday. There hasn’t been a CBO ruling. Hence there is still no bill to examine.
