Cozy in her incubator, set to 81.5 degrees, heart going at 174 beats a minute as she snoozed in her red, footy pajamas, Oliviyanna Harbin-Page may be a global record-holder. Born Aug. 5 to 16-year-old Jamesha Harbin of Eight Mile after 21 to 24 weeks of gestation, Oliviyanna weighed only 259 grams, or 9.1 ounces -- possibly making her, according to the University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital, the world's smallest surviving baby.

She now weighs 3 pounds 2 ounces.

One of three girl triplets -- the other two are identical, she is fraternal -- Oliviyanna was smaller than her siblings, who already have graduated from their incubators and headed home with mom and dad.

These babies could have been aborted. Look at the photo gallery. The littlest one was not much bigger than a Sharpie.

If Obamacare really happens, you won’t be reading stories like this anymore...

When she is older, she will most likely realize that had she been born a few years down the road, some government bureaucrat would have decided it was not worth spending the money on saving her.

Amazing. My daughter was 1 lb 11 oz, and I thought that was tiny. By the grace of God, she now shows no signs of being a preemie.

My daughter is a NICU nurse. She has amazing stories. The biggest breakthrough is modern treatment for underdeveloped lungs.

In England they would have been delivered and then deliberately allowed to die.

"Civilization" and all that.

16 years old and having babies - I wish them good luck and good health, but it is so sad to see such a young girl ending her childhood too early.

This type of care will not fit in to Dr. obama and Dr. ezekiel emanuel’s Complete Live’s System. Way too much money is poured into these preemie lives.

The mother is 16 years old. She is not married.

I wonder who will be paying for the care these babies will need?

after 21 to 24 weeks of gestation

This can't be correct. It's just a lump of cells.

“She has no specific risks for a bad outcome,” Hamm said. “Like all premature babies, her health will be fragile for the next couple of years, and there is always some risk for long-term challenges.”

I am more concerned about coming alongside these young women that choose life, especially young black ladies. We need to get the government out of this and allow the churches to step in.

My grandson was 2 pounds 10 ounces, now he is pushing 6’ and it’s all sinew and muscle. I wish this family happiness and joy.

It seems the parents aren’t married yet but they are both involved with the babies.

And yes, their childhood is over but those babies have two loving grandmothers as well.

They didn’t pick abortion. Must make planned parenthood nuts.

Wifey and I are hoping for the same result on the new Duggar baby girl....1 lb 6 oz, I think.

I’d be happier if these young women would stay in school, not get pregnant, and become productive members of society. There used to be shame associated with out of wedlock babies. Unfortunately it was mainly for the women, not the men. Now the event is celebrated in the media.

9.1 ounces. A 12” teddy bear weighs more than that. Incredible to think that all that potential and all that humanity can reside in such a tiny precious package.

Of course, but it is a shame the loving grandmothers weren’t better at helping their children wait until they were at least a bit older before becoming parents themselves.

I would be a lot happier if young people made better choices, at least this one made one good choice- after the bad decisions. I hope she gets her act together those babies will sure need her.

I also don’t agree with the way pregnant teens are treated as though they did nothing wrong, sure not the way it was when I grew up. I knew of one girl that got pregnant in my high school and she was sent away to a relative. All very hush hush. I remember some friends and I went by her house to see why she wasn’t in school and her mother told us she was gone and nothing more, we heard years later what happened. It was sad but what happens now sends the wrong message.
