Cozy in her incubator, set to 81.5 degrees, heart going at 174 beats a minute as she snoozed in her red, footy pajamas, Oliviyanna Harbin-Page may be a global record-holder. Born Aug. 5 to 16-year-old Jamesha Harbin of Eight Mile after 21 to 24 weeks of gestation, Oliviyanna weighed only 259 grams, or 9.1 ounces -- possibly making her, according to the University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital, the world's smallest surviving baby.

She now weighs 3 pounds 2 ounces.

One of three girl triplets -- the other two are identical, she is fraternal -- Oliviyanna was smaller than her siblings, who already have graduated from their incubators and headed home with mom and dad.

These babies could have been aborted. Look at the photo gallery. The littlest one was not much bigger than a Sharpie.

If Obamacare really happens, you won’t be reading stories like this anymore...

When she is older, she will most likely realize that had she been born a few years down the road, some government bureaucrat would have decided it was not worth spending the money on saving her.

Amazing. My daughter was 1 lb 11 oz, and I thought that was tiny. By the grace of God, she now shows no signs of being a preemie.

My daughter is a NICU nurse. She has amazing stories. The biggest breakthrough is modern treatment for underdeveloped lungs.

In England they would have been delivered and then deliberately allowed to die.

"Civilization" and all that.

16 years old and having babies - I wish them good luck and good health, but it is so sad to see such a young girl ending her childhood too early.

This type of care will not fit in to Dr. obama and Dr. ezekiel emanuel’s Complete Live’s System. Way too much money is poured into these preemie lives.

The mother is 16 years old. She is not married.

I wonder who will be paying for the care these babies will need?

after 21 to 24 weeks of gestation

This can't be correct. It's just a lump of cells.

“She has no specific risks for a bad outcome,” Hamm said. “Like all premature babies, her health will be fragile for the next couple of years, and there is always some risk for long-term challenges.”

I am more concerned about coming alongside these young women that choose life, especially young black ladies. We need to get the government out of this and allow the churches to step in.

My grandson was 2 pounds 10 ounces, now he is pushing 6’ and it’s all sinew and muscle. I wish this family happiness and joy.

It seems the parents aren’t married yet but they are both involved with the babies.

And yes, their childhood is over but those babies have two loving grandmothers as well.

They didn’t pick abortion. Must make planned parenthood nuts.

I am glad she chose the life of her babies over abortion.
