The Washington Times reported last night Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) had told reporters no deal was agreed to after he emerged from a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and other Democratic leaders. He went on to say health care talks were ongoing. What he failed to mention, through all of his rhetoric about his concern for pro-life language in the bill, was the huge Medicaid pay off to Nebraska being slipped into the health care bill. Essentially, the federal government will pay for Nebraska's new Medicaid recipients. The provision is worth about $45 million for the first ten years. In fact, Nebraska will be entitled to 100 percent federal help from Medicaid forever.

Well gee, why didn’t he just make a deal for Nebraskans to be forever tax free? They would have loved him for it and the rest of us could just take up the slack.
Well put.
Is Harry the John, and Bennie the gigolo?
It isn't. However, the entire federal structure has become corrupted by power (including Judicial) that they will likely allow it by refusing to get involved, calling it a "political" issue.

Indeed and never truer than today with Mr. Nelson of Nebraska.
When Nelson was asked about the pay-off on CSPAN he said that he didn’t want to talk about it and that Reid would fill them in on the details. Nelson also scolded everyone in America that questioned him, telling us that we “could do better.” Now we have Nelson impotently trying to regulate what people say on television and on the internet about his chicanery.

Nelson is not only a liar, he's a baby killer!
“How can it be legal for the Federal Government to pay for the State Medicaid costs of one state (or two or three) and not pay for the same liabilities in all of the other states?”
Agreed. Excellent question.
Guess that’s it for Omaha Steaks...
With Schmucky 'B' Schumer in the mix more like a Ménage à trois.

Nelson fleeced the nation. Shame on him.
Evil Reid has no business bribing his evil colleagues with OUR money.
If this isn’t corruption, please define it for me.
Thus, $4.5 million per year.
The population of Nebraska is 1.78 million. So, this is worth $2.53 per Cornhusker per year.
This 'bribe' is an so phony that it doesn't even add up to a $3 bill.
Then, under his breathe, he muttered, "But I'm willing to negotiate a long term lease."

malevolent bat-turds, all of them.
I say the same of the State of Mississippi. I only hope that Gov Barbour will assert states’ rights in opposition to us footing the bill for Nebraska or any other state getting this sweetheart deal for their senator’s vote. I don’t know how that would work in practice, but the principle is certainly there. It’s not as if every state has to pay, Nebraska from what I understand just got the best deal. From what I understand a couple more states have gotten similar deals. So I don’t know why other states wouldn’t be perfectly within their rights to refuse to take up the slack for them.
LOL. By golly, I think you actually heard him!
