Brittany Murphy, the actress who got her start in the sleeper hit "Clueless" and rose to stardom in "8 Mile," has died in Los Angeles. She was 32.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart said Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. Sunday. She would not provide a cause of death, or any other information.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. Sunday from a home that is listed as belonging to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who is married to Murphy, spokesman Devon Gale said. Gale said one person was transported to a hospital.
Messages left for Murphy's manager, agent and publicist by The Associated Press weren't immediately returned.
Born Nov. 10, 1977 in Atlanta, Murphy grew up in New Jersey and later moved with her mother to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

One site says she had a massive heart attack. That rarely happens to someone so young.
Crack addict with heart failure.
Does the name “Len Bias” ring a bell?
I don’t know who she is. Didn’t watch 8 mile or clueless. Sorry. I pray for her family. My sister died today back in 2000 she was 20.
She looked like an anorexic..it was either drugs or death due to anorexia
She was the voice of Luanne on “King of the Hill.”
Brittany Murphy was the voice of LuAnn on “King of the Hill.”
Oh no ... Luanne :-|
I’m sorry for your loss, and for the loss of Mrs. Murphy to all of her loved ones.
Very sorry about your sister. It is always sad when one dies so young.
Either finding would be unsurprising to me.
I personally didn't find her extremely attractive, but she was talented and very supportive of the troops....such a sad loss.
I am sorry for her relatives although I have never heard of her. My daughter died at age 31—6 years ago on January 15.
>>She looked like an anorexic..it was either drugs or death due to anorexia.<<
How sad. I always kind of liked her acting but I don’t know much about her personally.
You may well be right about the anorexia. If you look at her in movies from several years ago (Clueless, Girl Interrupted, Drop Dead Gorgeous) you’ll see an actress who was slightly plump by Hollywood standards - though beautiful and fine in the weight department by anyone else’s standards. I was vaguely aware that after that, she was pressured to lose weight, and did. I’m no doctor, but I’d say there’s a good chance she was trying to maintain a weight where she wasn’t meant to be. RIP.
That’s too young to die. She was a beautiful young woman. I’m sure we’ll learn more about the circumstances of her death as the facts come out. It doesn’t necessarily have to be drugs. She might have had a congenital heart defect.
Big, BIG druggie.
It isn’t mentioned in the article but she did a TON of work for the USO, several events per year.
God bless her and give her mother strength. I read that she was the one who found her daughter unresponsive in the shower. As the mother I can’t imagine anything more painful.
Hey, sorry to hear that Maelstrom. That’s terrible.
after someone dies I don’t think that’s the image her family wants to remember her with
Yeah, I saw this on another thread. She was a very talented woman who got into drugs. :-(
I really don’t like that at 34 I have outlived some people already.
Monk...I hain’t seen you of FR in a long, long time. Seven Of Nine will be thrilled.
Thank you. It is sad but life goes on and for me it has continued to remind me how valuable the time we have with our loved ones is.

Wow.
Cocaine? Possibly she had the same dealer as Billy Mays. The last thing I saw her in was some crap with Ashton Kutcher many years ago.

Rarely, although my brother died of a massive heart attack at 42.
Do you have proof? just curious...a young woman dies and so far most of the posts are pretty sour and unsympathetic...a dark side to FR that is all too frequent
Even if she brought it on herself does that make it un-sad?
I've had two open heart surgeries and left with a not so great heart and I've been a very bad man in my day but I have 11 people who depend on me and love me in my family....if I crash my Porsche at high speed will I also be dismissed like dirty socks here ?
sometimes I wonder if folks here are just mean, callous or very young and haven't lived enough to know real pain?
I don't mean to be picking on you....your question is fair enough....I guess we will see....I too would not be surprised if it wasn't something un natural...
So sorry for your loss. You must miss her very much.
Did not mean to put you out on front street...I actually took the time to check and looked around and yes there have been a lot of allegations about her drug use ramped up as of late.
I apologize, you were probably right.
Merry Christmas...or Happy Channakah(late)....those are the only two I do.
Brittany was adorable. I’m renting a Brittany Murphy DVD tonight. R.I.P.
I would agree with other posters that it is highly unusual for a young person, with no known history of cardiac problems, to drop dead.
While it is sad for a young person to die way before their time, anybody on drugs has a much higher risk of dying young, and depending on the level of addiction and what the substance is, it really is just a matter of time.
It is sad for her family and for her husband.
indeed...see 33
I agree with you. Seems to me that too many conservatives practice tough love without the love.
Too much blow will give stop the heart. Think Lenny Bias.

TMZ reporting that she was recently fired from a recent movie for being very difficult on the set.
Her nose looks a bit coke-ish, not that that means anything.
But a young person who does have a heart attack is more likely to have a massive one and die from it because they have less collateral circulation and more of the heart dies with a blockage.
excellent post
Sad. lovely young lady.
Smack ?
Thanks for your post, wardaddy. In my opinion, it is a truth that unfortunately, needs frequent expression on FR and was very nicely written.
Oh that’s right she voiced Luanne on King of Hill.
My money is on coke here. Sad.
