A crazed collector may be behind the extraordinary theft from Auschwitz concentration camp of the "Arbeit Macht Frei“ sign, which was been recovered after a 72-hour nationwide manhunt by Polish police.
The iron sign — which means “Work Sets you Free” — had been split into three parts, each separate word wrapped in cloth and hidden in Polish woodland. Five men, aged between 20 and 39 from the Torun area of northern Poland, have been arrested and Andrzej Rokita, deputy commander of Cracow police, described them as non-political.
“We can say that none of the five are members of a neo-Nazi group,” said Mr Rokita. One suspect owns a construction company, others are unemployed. They are being interrogated in Cracow — which is responsible for keeping order in the nearby Auschwitz camp museum — and if charges are pressed could face up to 10 years in jail for the “theft of a cultural treasure of particular significance” and damage to property.
Museum authorities are pressing the police to release the three pieces so that they can assess the scope of the damage. In the meantime a replica will be placed on the arched entrance to the former death camp.

Ahhhh, I see! The sign thief was actually a crazed collector, not those damn rotten neo-Nazis as the media first thought.
the 1st story contained both possibilities, but the headline presentation was “neo-nazis”. now the headline presentation is “crazed collector”. why the change in presentation? and why can’t they just report news anyway without the constant slants?
Either it's the journalists themselves or the media moguls in ownership of the British MSM.
I thought at first it might have been SEIU operatives. They needed a model sign for the new Hospitals and Doctor Offices we will be forced in to by Obamacare.
In route to the sign’s hiding place, several of the authorities were involved in auto accidents as a result of missing traffic signs at various intersections...
they ARE the new-nazis.
Well, yeah they are
But I prefer to call them Neo-Commies.
The moonbat leftists are so Kooky, calling them Nazis, is an insult to Nazis.
[As Hitler told Ernst Röhm before the Night of the Long Knives,
"You're taking this 'socialist thing' way too serious".]
(per 'Hitler's Henchmen', History International Channel)
“Ahhhh, I see! The sign thief was actually a crazed collector, not those damn rotten neo-Nazis as the media first thought.”
Rahim, Aban, Faraz, and Qubad come to mind as possible first names of those involved, the possible crazed collector may live in Iran and have some high level poitical position.
Nothing will come of it, perps will be released.
Morgana, you were correct - it was a collector.
I think he will create new molds for his death camps, something akin to "Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter", or something like that. Maybe even a haiku:
you'll not hinder my dark plan;
showers straight ahead
“But I prefer to call them Neo-Commies”
same difference really.
for your list
Photoshop/editorial cartoon opportunity:
Oval office, 0bama at the desk, something sticking out from under a curtain that says “Arbe”.

Actually, it was a fraternity prank, from those merry Greeks at Cracow U..a scavenger hunt run amok...
and why cant they just report news anyway without the constant slants?
The power is just too tempting.
“”Arbeit Macht Frei” is the more famous, but the sign over the gate at the Buchenwald concentration camp is also interesting: “Jedem Das Seine.” “To each his own.”
ha ha and LOL for the new neo-sign. Sadly ironic.
I learned a long time ago that the news was only as good as the person who reported it.
PC reporters these days are afraid of repercussions from any number of sources. Too bad. Folks need to just report the news and let us form our own opinions.
I’m glad the sign was recovered, and whoever took it needs to spend more than 10 years in prison. Preferably above the Arctic Circle.
