Skip to comments.Dick Cheney: HUMAN EVENTS' Conservative of the Year

In Washingtonian inside the Beltway terms, the most amazing aspect of former Vice President Dick Cheneys new clout is that he is achieving it the old-fashioned way: talking about public policy. He is not running for President or any other office. He has not formed a PAC or a D.C. lobbying firm. He is not dishing on former colleagues, not spreading gossip, not settling scores. He is, instead, writing a memoir about his extensive career in public service, and giving occasional speeches and interviews, mostly on national and homeland security policy, long his central focus.
How is it, therefore, that someone who has no political ambitions can cause so much angst at the White House and in the mainstream news media? The irrefutable answer is that what Cheney is saying, primarily on foreign policy, defense and anti-terrorism, makes sense to more and more American citizens growing increasingly worried by the Obama Administrations insouciance when U.S. national interests are threatened, both at home and abroad. Since the only real, long-term way to deal with persuasive positions on substantive policy matters is to refute them with sounder policy arguments, it is not hard to understand why the Obama White House is near panic. Where are they going to go to find a better policy inside his administration?

Well,yeah,that’s a good choice....but I would’ve picked Sarah!
Is Bolton referring to Sarah Palin? I'm not doing any of those things, either. Maybe I should be named Conservative of the Year...
Anyway, congratulations Mr. Vice-President, you are a great conservative.
She won it last year.
Dick Cheney in 2012.
I agree, he is the best choice. I hope he’s tutoring/advising Sarah; somehow, I think that’s been the case since she was nominated. ;-)
Liz Cheney is my choice.
Neither one will be running. I just like the sound of it.
Btw, Liz Cheney was an advisor to the liberal Romney. No thanks!
Thanks...I wasn’t aware. Good for Dick Cheney,then!
Three cheers for the former VP. A great conservative and a great American.
Conservative of the DECADE!!
And Dick Cheney has endorsed Kaye Bailey Hutchison.
Yeah, how bout that! LOL
Romney is still a scumbag.
And so is KB Hutchison
No doubt about. I’d still vote for Dick Cheney.
Liz Cheney advising Romney crosses the line. Watch for a replay in 2012.
