A lot of the a mixture of gases used in plastics such as ethylene, ethane, propane, propylene is produced from the cracking of crude oil. We also get them from Natural Gas, but I am not sure the majority comes from Natural Gas.

It does - probably 80 - 90 % derived from natural gas feedstocks.
