The morning broadcasters, Jack Bishop and Rich Hancock, announced this morning that their organization,"Rational Radio" would be off the air as of Jan 1, 2010. Rational Radio leased this station 24/7 from the Multicultural Broadcast Corp. The rest of the local talkers on this station were discussing their plans thruout the day. Most of them trashing broadcast radio and corporations in general. They are claiming that broadcast radio is dead and Internet Radio is where it is at.
And talk about hate. The hate for us just drips out of every syllable that comes thru the radio. Very eye opening.
Good riddance!
They are right about broadcast radio. See the recent bankruptcy filing of Citadel Broadcasting as another example. It is going the way of newspapers and satellite radio.
Things will continue to be chopped up further and further with audiences getting smaller and smaller and ad revenue going down and down.
Someone quick, tell Rush. He's on over 600 stations. This will be news to him.
Leave it to Liberals not to understand a business climate, or that their culture of death and communism wouldn't inspire folks to tune in.
I live in Dallas and have pretty much every English speaking non-Disney AM station on my presets, but I haven’t heard of these people.
Host of the highest-rated national radio talk show in America, Rush Limbaugh has taken the political world by storm. He began hosting his nationally syndicated program on August 1, 1988 with 56 stations. Currently he is carried by more than 645 radio stations and is listened to by more than 20 million people weekly.
Is this it? This is a lot of coverage. Surely there must be one or two listeners in this area. Or they must be real bad.
Rush Limbaugh, the Broadcaster of the Decade!
He has owned radio since ‘88. I don’t know how he pumps out so much every single day. It’s a daunting task.
You have been missing some very informative radio. If one of the keys to a good offense is knowing what your enemy is thinking, these guys think out loud. Today they were railing about corporate and Wall Street greed. I wanted to chat with them about all the money that was shoveled at a wide variety of Senators in order to pass health care reform. And health care reform itself is all about democrat greed for power. At least Wall Street doesn’t have the ability to coerce money from people like the government can.
He is the biggest because the big boys won’t compete with him. If NBC were to convert to rock-solid conservative/libertarian, they would knock Rush off the perch. But it ain’t happening.
People are tired of auditorium testing and the radio giants forcing all stations to play pre-selected play lists. If radio turned back to leaving the job of music in the hands of a DJ and playing requests...REAL REQUESTS...and not the b.s. of “I will pick a song out for you and dedicate it to you how’s that sound?” or “You can pick from this list of songs to request from this artist” and sure enough it will be one of the same 5 or 6 they play every day to death.
I miss and long for the days of real AOR Radio where people and radio stations in general were allowed to be 100% original.
Everything is formatted so much that if a regional PD happens to be driving through your area and hears a song that he knows he never programmed for that time slot...that DJ faces losing their job immediately.
Radio has lost ALL personal touch.
Perhaps so. As you state, it’s not happening. And so we’ll never know.
A site search on Air America Radio's website doesn't even give their total number of stations like they used to, only local ones by zip code now.
Anyone else notice that liberal radio's “health” took a nose dive after Soros cut them off? Not even other leftist fools with money saved them, only delayed the wolves from their door, a struggle they still do today. The idea is that liberal radio will “catch on”, something that it's failed to do even after giving almost every liberal a show.
