NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police said a man dressed in a full Santa Claus suit robbed a Hermitage bank Tuesday morning.
The robbery occurred just after 10 a.m. at SunTrust Bank on Old Hickory Boulevard, just north of Lebanon Road.
The thief, described as a white male between 6 feet and 6 feet 4 inches tall, was dressed as Kris Kringle and armed with a 9-millimeter handgun, said police.
Witnesses said when two bank managers tried to get him to remove his sunglasses, that's when they said he pulled out the weapon and demanded money.
"It was a little unbelievable. He was actually jovial, which is scary. He explained that he was robbing the bank because Santa had to pay his elves," said witness Richlyn Jones.
"I was just wondering if he was going to be stupid enough to hurt somebody, but once he started getting what he wanted, I could see he was going to leave," said witness James Edwards.
The man left the bank in a gray car, possibly a Nissan Altima. It was unclear how much money was taken.
No one was hurt during the robbery. The FBI Task Force and Metro police are investigating the case.
bad bad santa
Paging SWAT team to North Pole.
Good thing that somebody had the time to measure the .355 bore.
That’ll mean that those who use .40 S&W in their robberies won’t be falsely accused.
Looks like an underemployed bluegrass musician to me. Has to pay his session players.
Somebody’s getting coal in their stocking...
There are a few more photos at the site. One showing a side view of the weapon. They could blow it up easily for make and model.
Come to think of it, these are the first digital photos of a bank robbery I have seen. Usually the bank robber photos look like some 8mm film from 1970’s tech.
Is it just me, or doesn’t something similar to this seem to happen every Christmas season?
'Course it's where Paris Hilton has her roots...Cisco, Texas.
My Grandparents went to the lynching in Eastland where it concluded.
HE OBVIOUSLY WAS UNINSURED........
I was thinking the same thing... how do they know it was a 9mm?
Some people can tell the difference?
I have to admit someone gave me a cartridge that completely fooled me. I had to look at the headstamp to know what it is. I have it hanging on my car mirror now. .41 Action Express.
Put out an apb for Billy Bob Thornton!
An obvious fake. The real Santa Claus would never carry a 9mm. He packs something more appropriate for polar bear country.
The real Santa would have come in the chimney and been in and out in a tiny fraction of a second (he must move that fast to make all his deliveries in one night).
