There are lots of trucking companies that have been going out of business ever since diesel fuel spiked to $5.00/gallon last year. It has gone down but so has the amount of freight to move around the country. Less freight to move requires less total trucks to carry it. It is a normal contraction in the economic cycle.
I live near a company called JEVIC.. Same thing happened.
Truckers were stranded across country when they were told about the company just closing up with no warning.
This is the reason American merchant seamen are, required by congress, to be paid in cash. In years past, seamen were stranded in many countries by bankrupting shipping companies who issued worthless pay checks.
Disgusting.

The trucker has signed a bill of ladening taking possession of the property in the trailer.
Also he is in possession of the truck and trailer. Charges can be brought in cases of abandonment
