Teresa Heinz Kerry says she is being treated for breast cancer discovered through a mammogram and wants younger women to keep undergoing the tests annually despite a federal panel’s recent recommendation to reduce their frequency.

Any bets SHE won't be treated within any Nationalized Medical Care system?

Irony at its finest. Under 0bamacare (had she not been Kerry's wife of course) she'd have been sent out for judgment by a death panel.

Good thing she'll be exempt from that.

cost of mammography is less than the pain

According to Obie, pain like a fighting spirit are intangible, emotional, unmeasurable and have no place in the heathcare discussion.

Sorry if my post seems uncaring. I find it ironic that those who are zealots about Nationalized Healthcare aren't going to be restricted by it. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone either. I have worked in cancer detection for 35 years. Hers sounds like a serious case. Hope she recovers. At least she is telling women to ignore the Government restrictions on mammograms under 50. MOST cases are women under 50. Please continue to get your mammograms ladies. It could mean the difference between living and dying.

I pray for her long life. I have had stage 4 cancer for the past 7 years. I’ll bet he’s thinking about all of her $$ if she should go.

Gee, maybe she will be treated under the new Health Care bill and that will shorten her life. Then I’ll bet John would be sad. . . NOT!

Breast cancer is one disease that has seen advances in treatment. I hope hers was caught early and her treatment successful. I can attest to how difficult it is to face such news as breast cancer runs in my family.

However, I also feel entitled to despise Kerry and his communist ilk for burdening my children with a death care system that they’re kind will never have to deal with. He is responsible for the little paper tickets to wait in line, the lack of skilled doctors, the long wait for treatment, if at all, and absolutely no new medical innovations. He is responsible for forcing my children into serfdom and medical care far inferior to what we have today.

Hey, good luck Teresa.
But, I fear for my 25-year-old daughter and pray she doesn’t have to face such a diagnoses with a death care system of the dark ages.

I knew a gal, the niece of my best friend, who got breast cancer (doctors didn’t believe the lump was “anything”) and died before she was old enough for her first legal drink in a bar.

It is a miserable thing to watch a female endure.

I wish Teresa Heinz-Kerry a speedy recovery.

There are very sad cases out there. In my training we went to autopsies of cancer patients to see the primary tumor location and the metastases. The first autopsy I observed was on a 17 year old who had died of ovarian cancer. It was heartbreaking.

Politically, I have nothing but contempt for John AND Teressa. She is politically active.

As a fellow human being, I do have sympathy for her concerning her medical condition, and I wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Having said that, she is 71. In keeping with the new health care plan she supported, I hope that aspirin and waiting to die therapy works for her.

Complete agreement. ALL those who are anxious for ‘free’ healthcare have NO IDEA how much it is going to cost them in extra taxes. Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will never forgive us for not protecting their Freedoms as Americans.

Indeed....

We can slam people over politics, when the time is right, over their “issues.”

But, to me, bringing up political things...even “issue” things are beneath us. We can all agree that her spouse is a worthless piece of shit.

But this lady is still a mother and a wife. And this is terrible news...she has children and a grandchild.

Free Republic is a better bunch, than to make this a political thing, no?

I take care of little old ladies with cancer. I have the world’s most saddest job. Sadder than lonely Timmy Geithner’s job. I’m crossing my fingers that my mother stays cancer free so I can have a summer to myself. Every time someone dies from cancer, I always feel guilty that I get to keep my mom. Weird survivor guilt :(

Wow that’s hardcore. Even so, I do believe that this nation is under judgment from the Lord and we were handed over to the king we wanted. No doubt Effin’s wife will have the very best healthcare and wouldn’t be misdiagnosed and mistreated by a gubbermint hospital the way my mother was.

While I understand, it is not right to pray for the death or harm of your enemies. We are to pray for them. Wishing them ill will cause Gods disfavor to turn from them, potentially to yourself.

Anyone can pray for the ‘betterment’ of loved ones, even a vile person. But a good person will also pray that those that hurt him be meade whole.

Prayers for you my FRiend, Merry CHRISTmas.

I just think if we want to discuss her politics with respect to her illness, I’d prefer it be via FReepmail rather than on our forum. This place is Data Mining Central for the wingnuts.

Most of wish her the best.

And you, for being an MD who can show up at such sad cases as you’ve described, are a hero to someone like me. Two years ago, I happened to be back home in Ohio, when I picked up a newspaper to learn my “baby doctor” had passed away. He was elderly by then.

I only have one child. He’s college-aged by now. To this day, I’ll never forget something this doctor did in the operating room. I remember it like it happened yesterday.

My kid was “breech” and 8 weeks early. Yikes. I ended up in The Room with my doctor. He always knew I was deathly afraid of needles. Still am, to this day.

As they plunged that long ass needle in my back for the epidural, I was apoplectic and began to sob...and I mean SOB, I was so scared.

At that moment, my doctor hugged me, in the Mother of All Bear Hugs, like I was a little kid... like his daughter. At the same time, he bellowed out “We need some tissues, here. Right now.” And he was a big cheese, so you can imagine how they scurried!

He was a great man, decent to the core. When you can combine gentle humanity and science, you really have accomplished something. (I’ll turn over his name via FReepmail)

When I read in the newspaper that he passed away, I cried.

Prayers going up for a complete recovery!

And she needs to tell her husband to tell his party that breast cancer screens are important! And they should NOT be telling women they don’t need them until after their 50.

And men need to know that they can get breast cancer and should watch any changes in their chest also. My neighbor had cancer on both sides of his chest (or breast what ever you call it for a man) and was lucky enough to catch it early enough to save his life.

10-Year-Old California Girl Battles Breast Cancer
Thursday , May 14, 2009

At 10 years old, Hannah Powell-Auslam should be enjoying her last few weeks of fifth grade, playing with her friends without a care in the world.

Instead, the Fullerton, Calif., girl is battling stage IIA breast cancer, also known as invasive ductal carcinoma, KCAL-TV reported.

Young children and adolescents have just a 0.1 percent chance of developing breast cancer, said Dr. Cynara Coomer, a breast surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and FOX News Health contributor. It’s even rarer for a child to develop invasive ductal carcinoma, which is considered to be an adult cancer.

Thank you for your confidence but I’m not a Doctor. I am a technologist who sits at a microscope looking for abnormal cells on slides. Sadly, with the new ‘Healthcare Reform’ I may be out of a job soon. I have worked in the British NHS in my past and am here to tell you that Nationalized Health Care does not believe in preventative maintenance. They also don’t believe in all out care to lengthen your days. I have personal experiences with relatives that would break your heart. I will not use those stories because they are within family. One thing I will tell you is that the British believe it’s a weakness to go to the Doctor. Americans are spoiled and expect attention for even a hangnail. This new ‘Reform’ will bankrupt us and lead to the collapse of the best health care system in the world. Every Doctor with whom I have worked has said they will retire before allowing themselves to be subjugated by the Government. And there’s already a Doctor shortage in America. Pray for our country.
