A brutal attack on an eighth-grade New Jersey honor student has left the young teen recovering in the hospital, shocking students and outraging administrators at his suburban middle school, WCBSTV.com reported.
Police said up to eleven students at Janis Dismus Middle School in Englewood beat up 13-year-old David Muneton, leaving him severely injured, the Web site reported.
Muneton has been in the hospital since he was attacked Friday. He has undergone facial reconstructive surgery to mend broken bones and may lose his sight.
"It's so hard ... I'm his best friend," said fellow student Denise Melendez, according to WCBSTV.com.
Investigators said the boys beat up Muneton to get back at him for accidentally hitting a girl with a basketball. The girl allegedly pointed out Muneton to the group of boys, saying “he’s the one.” They jumped him when he was walking home from school Friday, WCBSTV

The likely demographics of the attacking savages, makes “shock” a very naive response.
I drive right past this school often, especially when I go to see a customer who lives in nearby RiverEdge. Looks like a perfectly OK school, not, as far as I can ascertain, anywhere near ghetto neighborhoods, which is not true for many other schools in Englewood NJ. Is this a racial incident, or don’t I dare ask?
Other forums have indicated the attackers were black. Also, the demographics of that school are something like 63% black 34% Hispanic and 2% white, so the probability is extremely high that the attackers were not white.
SEIU is hiring. They meet the requirements for membership.
That must have been one Hell of a beating, to require facial reconstruction.
What has gotten into kids these days? “Back in the day” when we used to get into scraps, it was always one-on-one, and two-on-one was always considered cowardly and poor form. Now we’re talking multiple assailants.
Bruce Lee would have had difficulty dealing with that many determined attackers all at once. What chance did this kid have? And for accidentally hitting a girl with a basketball??? Any kid could have done that.
This could happen to any kid.

It’s not a “hate” crime. Victim was white.
I'm sure the other students are going to claim that the white kid attacked the minority students by bashing his face against their feet.
This is unprecedented. This happened unexpectedly.
Eventually, someone who has been beat up enough times or is actually too terrified to ride the bus to work will have a ‘Bernie Goetz’ moment.
You cannot send your white child to a school where a majority—or even a significant minority—of fellow students are from the Black underclass. The Black children are taught to hate white people at home, often (Rev. Wright)in Church, and on “urban radio.” It is just too dangerous for the white kids.
A friend who was a Superintendent of Schools (PA.) told me decades ago that once a school district reached a 20% black population, that was it—the schools would go into a steep decline.
This was in the 1960’s. It has proven to be true.
The attackers were black. Funny how mainstream news media... Fox included... won’t mention that. Various black blogs and message boards are talking about it, and they’re pretty horrified about it. There seems to be a thread of disgust there about how academic achievers.... white or black... are vilified in inner city culture.
Heartbreaking. Nothing will be done of any long term consequence to these boys who did this. You can be sure that they will be repeat offenders in the future...perhaps even for murder.
It is wise not to let your children walk home from school for a variety of reasons. This is one of them. Times have changed, and not for the better.

What do you think the social, emotional, and physical environment **inside** the school is like? What parent in his or her right mind would allow a child to attend this school?
Honestly, there are schools that are such cesspools that it would be better for a child NEVER to attend regardless of the educational consequences. This school is one of them!
Yet,...The first day after Christmas vacation this school will be filled to the brim with students who have idiots for parents. ( Free babysitting must be powerfully addictive!)

A friend’s son ( gifted and talented) was attacked in the HALLWAY of his high school by thugs. They broke his femur. His stupid parents sent him back to the same school once he was out of the hospital and healed.
I must have been thinking of another school with a similar name. Now that I think of it, the school I drive by is probably in Paramus. I googled the school and it looks like the one that recently had a different name, and was, yeah, mostly attended by black students. Physically beautiful and classic looking school , by the way. Not so surprisingly, the other main Englewood school is probably majority white,
but is a real utilitarian blocky looking affair.
Nope I was right the first time. The school I was thinking of IS the same on I drive by. Surprising, that the racial demographic is what it is. Guess I never thought about the neighborhood. Simply doesn’t look like a mostly black neighborhood.
Only a matter of time till the “civil rights leaders” show up and start calling the little sociopaths the “Englewood 11.”
What is society coming to? What evil are we allowing in these institutions where we leave our children?
I believe all kids need full supervision from trusted adults for a very long time, because not everyone is actually civilized any more.
A GANG of kids destroying someone's face and life because he accidentally hit a girl with a basketball, probably in a sports situation. That is uncivilized and pure dumb thuggish.
The Halloween massacre in our neighborhood had the black perps receiving scant punishment for attempting murder on three innocent white girls who were walking down the street. I hope the NJ courts do better.
