NY court: Consider harsher sentence in terror case

NEW YORK (AP) - A federal appeals court on Wednesday took a sterner stance toward the upcoming resentencing of a former civil rights lawyer convicted in a terrorism case, saying it has "serious doubts" whether her sentence of just over two years in prison was reasonable.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals added new instructions for the judge who will resentence 70-year-old Lynne Stewart, who was convicted of letting an imprisoned Egyptian terrorist client communicate with followers. The court said the judge should consider whether Stewart's sentence should be increased because of the case's terrorism connections.

"We have serious doubts that the sentence given was reasonable but think it appropriate to hear from the district court further before deciding the issue," the appeals court said.

I suppose it’s too much to hope that this Court resentence her to death by hanging.

Media Matters is funded by an admitted Nazi/Gestapo collaborator, George Soros (Hungary) who is now a billionaire marxist.

MM is led by David Brock, one very sick puppy.

Of course anti-semitism and being anti-Israel is natural to them. It comes with who they are. Just look at their daddy, Big George the KAPO.

How about a free all-expenses paid grandiose luncheon at the “Windows of the World” restaurant? Yah, a helicopter could chauffeur Lynne to the observation deck of WTC and from there she can just drop right down into the restaurant ... ummm, just drop right down into .... ummm .... well ....

How about sentencing her to go live in an Islamic country? That's worse than death.

Hey, all you ILLINOIS Obama fans looking for a job at Gitmo-North , look here:

OCTOBER 2000 : (BOMBING OF USS COLE : ISLAMIC GROUP CLAIMS THE ATTACK ON USS COLE WAS A WARNING TO THE US TO FREE SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN --- See "SECRET DOVE" LYNNE STEWART & US POSTMAN SATTAR {See ABC News employees}) Not to be outdone, Osama bin Laden and a few of his fellow Al-Qaeda operatives appeared on Al-Jazeera television in September 2000 vowing to wage a jihad to end Rahman’s incarceration (one of the men extolled viewers to “avenge your Sheikh” and “go to the spilling of blood”). It’s no coincidence that the suicide bombing of the American navy destroyer U.S.S. Cole occurred just one month after this broadcast. That attack, which took place in Yemen and killed over 17 U.S. sailors, was explained by Sattar’s [Staten Island-based postal worker named Ahmed Abdel Sattar] Mid-east contacts as a warning to the U.S. government to free Rahman. -- " Cheerleaders for Terrorism: Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart continues her support for Islamic terror ," By Erick Stakelbeck, FrontPageMagazine.com, Wednesday, June 17, 2003 posted June 18, 2003

SEPTEMBER 2001 MID : (LAUREL, MD : FEDS SWARM APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE MOATAZ AL HALLAK RESIDES --See ARLINGTON TX CELL, ATTNY STANLEY COHEN {HUSBAND OF LYNNE STEWART, THE ATTNY OF BLIND SHEIKH OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN }) In pursuing leads in the Washington area, FBI agents swarmed into a Laurel, Md., apartment complex, going door-to-door last week asking neighbors if they recognized two men in photos that appeared to have been taken by a surveillance camera, residents said. The agents said the two men were dead. The complex drew particular attention because it is home to a Muslim cleric who was identified by FBI agents in Dallas as one of more than 100 people the government is seeking to question in connection with the hijackings. Moataz Al-Hallak has lived in Laurel and taught at a local Islamic school for about a year. He attracted FBI notice when he was an iman at a mosque in Arlington, Texas, after the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. In a court hearing in that case, a federal prosecutor described Al-Hallak as a conduit among members of the group organized by bin Laden, the suspected sponsor of the attacks Tuesday and those in Africa. Al-Hallak has never been charged in the conspiracy. Although authorities described Al-Hallak as missing, he came to his door when a reporter knocked Sunday. He referred questions to his attorney, Stanley L. Cohen. Cohen said his client is not involved in terrorism and has cooperated with authorities, testifying three times before a federal grand jury in the embassy bombings case. "The specter of him being involved in any way, shape or form related to these events is insane," Cohen said. ------ "Suspected hijacker from Scottsdale flew in D.C. area over 6 weeks," By John Mintz and Brooke A. JULY 17, 2002 : (HAMAS & HEZBOLLAH SUPPORTERS ANNOUNCE A LAWSUIT AGAINST BUSH, POWELL & ISRAELI LEADERS - THE SUIT IS LED BY LAWYER STANLEY COHEN, PARTNER OF LYNNE STEWART - See Sheik Abdel Rahman & the 1993 WTC bombing; Kathy Boudin & Weather Underground & May 19 Communist Organization; Castro & NLG & SLA; CCR) Supporters of the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist movements announced a lawsuit today that names President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell among the defendants. The suit, aimed at Israeli leaders whom it alleges committed "war crimes," is led by New York-based lawyer Stanley Cohen, an attorney for members of the terrorist group Hamas and other radical causes.
Militant activist Abdurahman Alamoudi, a founder and longtime leader of the American Muslim Council (AMC) who describes himself as a supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah, joined Cohen at the news conference announcing the suit and made a statement in Arabic that was not translated into English.
Alamoudi told reporters that the suit "sends a message to the American Muslim community" that they need not be afraid of the U.S. government any more, and that they can now "challenge the system" through the courts. "We've been doing it politically and now we're going to do it legally," he said.
Cohen added that by filing the lawsuit, "We're trying to bring to the Palestinian struggle an avenue in the United States."
Attending the news conference but not openly part of the lawsuit was Sami Al-Arian, the controversial University of South Florida professor who was suspended after it was revealed that he occupies a significant position with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The suit's anonymous plaintiffs focus their complaints on Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the leaders of the Israeli military and security services, whom Cohen accuses of "genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, racketeering, acts of murder and torture, bodily harm, arson, kidnapping," and other crimes.
They target Bush and Powell for allegedly failing to comply with federal laws requiring the executive branch to certify to Congress if U.S.-made weapons exported abroad were used to commit human rights abuses. In this regard, the suit also targets American arms manufacturers, including Boeing, McConnell-Douglas, and Textron-Bell Helicopter.
The plaintiffs also accuse American Jewish and Christian groups, including a Lutheran church, of crimes because they sent aid to an Israeli settlement in the West Bank.
Cohen wants the State Department to serve Sharon and the Israeli security chiefs with their papers so they can be sued in U.S. courts. Some of the anonymous plaintiffs are said to have American citizenship or residency, thus giving grounds for filing the suit in the United States.
The New York lawyer says he isn't worried about defending himself from criticism. His controversial statements include protestations that John Walker Lindh, who recently pleaded guilty for crimes relating to his service as a Taliban combatant, was innocent. Alamoudi, for his part, does show concern: "I'm worried. I know they will come after me." He says he expects "smear campaigns" and legal action from opponents of his cause.

Good. The sow should be hanged. But since they would never do that, she should at least be kept away from decent folks for as long as legally possible.

The leftist pig hates the US so much she was perfectly willing to sell out her country to a bunch of Muslim loonies. In saner times, she’d already have been put to death for treason.

NOVEMBER 2004 early : (LYNNE STEWART TESTIMONY : THERE ARE TIMES WHEN VIOLENCE IS NEEDED TO CHANGE OPPRESSIVE GOVERNMENTS AND INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING THOSE THAT "PERPETUATE CAPITALISM") A U.S. lawyer accused of aiding militant Muslims said in testimony on Monday there are times when violence is needed to change oppressive governments and institutions, including those that "perpetuate capitalism." The lawyer, Lynne Stewart, 65, is on trial on charges she helped an imprisoned client, the radical cleric Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, communicate with Egypt's Islamic Group. The group is on the U.S. government's list of terrorist organizations.
Stewart has denied any wrongdoing and maintains she was doing her duty as a lawyer representing a client being held incommunicado. She could face 15 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge against her, providing "material support" to terrorists.
During cross-examination, Stewart, was grilled on her own radical views. She unabashedly described what she felt was the need for uprisings seeking change, even if such actions result in death.
"I believe in politics which lead, in my view of history, to violence being exerted by people on their own behalf to effectuate change," she said. "I believe entrenched institutions will not be changed except by violence. "The American Revolution was accomplished violently."
