PORT RICHEY Deputy Matthew Kadel was taking a man to jail the morning of July 19 when he decided to grab some food. It was 9 a.m. and he'd been working since 5. He was hungry and thirsty and had at least a 20-minute drive ahead of him.
As Kadel, 45, pulled into the McDonald's drive-through and placed his order, the man in the back seat Richard Zukoski, 21, arrested on auto burglary and theft charges used his own handcuff key to free himself. He took off through the parking lot off U.S. 19, just south of State Road 52.

A few years ago a guy here had his own key. They didn’t find it when they searched him.
He unlocked his cuffs, wrestled a gun from one of the detectives taking him in.
End result; 3 dead cops.
According to the article this is the third time someone has escaped from this Deputy... sounds like he needs to find another line of work and definitely not on the corrections side
So this cop hadn’t had a break or eaten (to give him the benefit of the doubt) in FOUR WHOLE HOURS? And was facing probably 20-30 min. more without stuffing his face? What hardship.
I think the department needs more taxpayer dollars for training—usually that’s what they want after they screw up-more of our money.
