Sarah Palin told 'biggest lie of the year'
telegraph.co.uk ^ | 21 Dec 2009 | Paul Thompson

Posted on 12/23/2009 7:43:52 PM PST by Thirteen

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has won the dubious honour of telling the biggest political lie of the year.

A panel of experts ruled her claim the Obama administration was planning to introduce "death panels" was chosen as the most misleading statement of 2009.

Palin, 45, made the claim on her Facebook page at the height of the debate over President Obama's plans to reform the US health care system.

She wrote: "My parents or my baby with Down syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide whether they are worthy of health care."

But the website PolitiFact.com found that there were never any plans to introduce so called "death panels" to decide who should live or die.

frpom the UK and will say this right now.

this rag should look closer to home as my mam’s husband died from cancer due to long waiting lines and it took my mam nearly a year from start to finish to get her results and and get checked.

I’ve seen and heard about people dying in the UK so this rag should look at ZANU-Labour instead

obama, his wife and ilk and the media are all to blame in this running the country down and putting us all into debt for our kids, grandkids etc.

If the media had done their job then he would not have been president, maybe Clinton did but not him.

If they had done their job while he is in office and ask him questions and reported the facts then there is no way the Dems would have dared to have done all their bribery, corrupt ways.

Instead the media assisted in covering up facts, twisted the facts and all together ignored them i.e. ACORN, SEIU, VAN Jones, anti Dunn, Holdren ,Jennings the list is endless

To: Thirteen; All

The term "death panel" is synonymous with "rationed care," with medicines and procedures decided upon by bureaucrats and politicians who use biased policies to determine who is more valuable to save vs who should be allowed to die.

When the ObamaCare cuts $500 billion from Medicare, mostly from senior citizens who have already paid into the system, "death panels" are a reality that is pre-determined to occur to the people you love the most — and eventually, to you.

Sarah was spot on.

“Sarah was spot on.”

Yep, look at the numerous stories from Canada of folks who had to flee to our free (at the time) American system to get care, otherwise they would have died under rationed healthcare.

Keep at them with the truth, it WILL work in the end!

See a left-wing bias here? And the runners-up ...

PolitiFact readers overwhelming chose Sarah Palin’s claim that the health care bill contains “death panels” as Lie of the Year. A resounding 61 percent of our 4,864 voters picked death panels as the top lie. No other finalist in the field of eight statements came close.

Here are the runners-up:

• With 12.3 percent of the vote, a claim by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck that John Holdren, President Barack Obama’s top science adviser, “has proposed forcing abortions and putting sterilants in the drinking water to control population.”

• With 8.7 percent of the vote, a claim by Orly Taitz that a birth certificate showed that President Obama was born in Kenya.

• With 7.1 percent of the vote, President Obama’s statement that “preventive care saves money.”

Rounding out the rest of the finalists:

• 5.8 percent: The shout of “You lie!” by Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., in response to President Obama saying health reform would not insure illegal immigrants.

• 3.2 percent: The claim that Page 92 of the House health care bill “says specifically that people can’t purchase private health insurance after a date certain,” said by Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.

• 1.7 percent: The claim that “When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft,” said by Vice President Joe Biden, when fears of swine flu were prevalent.

• 0.5 percent: The claim that an amendment to the House health reform bill “puts new restrictions on women’s access to abortion coverage in the private health insurance market even when they would pay premiums with their own money,” said by Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.

I believe the Telegraph is only reporting the panel and it's heavily loaded political hate. Nothing to do with the Telegraph it's self.

I would like to digress a little. Of course by the Grace of God and my hospital treatment as a very young person in the UK, I am still here. Sadly I do know very well the stories going the rounds about a form of euthanasia practiced there. I do not have any facts though. My great aunt had Parkinson's disease. It may have been brought on by a house being bombed next door. She was 63 years old. She told her daughter she was on borrowed time, while in the hospital. She never made it out.

The legend and it may be an urban legend in England, was said to be "withdrawal of fluids". I say this because I do not trust bleeding heart liberals. This breed is universal and need to be watched. They care not for the persons who have served their time and are considered no longer any use.

Big lie my foot. Sarah is the gold.

Walz votes for stimulus bill
We received this statement from Walz’s congressional office

http://www.bluestemprairie.com/a_bluestem_prairie/2009/01/walz-votes-for-stimulus-bill.html

This legislation will create and save 3 to 4 million jobs, rebuilding America, making us more globally competitive and energy independent, and transforming our economy for long-term growth; give 95% of American workers an immediate tax cut; and invest quickly in the economy – with 75% spent in the first 18 months.

“Experts say more than 90 percent of the jobs created will be in the private sector.” added Walz.

I suppose that the word hasn't gotten around, but when this phrase is used in a "news" report, without identifying the members of the "panel", it renders whatever follows insignificant.

The fools and criminals describing themselves as "experts" these days is too high to count.

Why the "press" insists on foisting this useless rhetorical device as news, I have no idea,

Just because the legislation didn’t actually use the TERM “death panels”, doesn’t mean they are not part of it. Any time a beurocrat or committee of such make life or death decisions about what treatments are “cost effective”, and decide if I have had enough of a “useful life”, I think deserves the title of “Death Panel”...

Well, there can be no debate that most congressional 'leaders" and spokespersons are experts at lying.

However, how that makes their judgement of others reliable can certainly be the subject of debate.

We already have them, we just reserve them for veterans. I learned today that a close relative, Vietnam Vet and cancer patient, was denied the ability to have oxygen at home as he was discharged...because they say he doesn't need it as long as he's sitting still.

This to a dude who's lungs were collapsed when he hit the (non-VA) ER 10 days ago. He had to be intubated, sedated and on a respirator for a week. By law the private hospital physician cannot provide it to him, so he had him transferred to the V.A. praying that someone would take rational advice and prescribe it for him. Otherwise he would have had to send him home without it.

Perhaps Sarah should visit some V.A. hospitals.
