Are you a former Marine? Just because you may know a few Marines, do not presume to speak for all of them. I would suggest you compare the reactions not only of Marines but the other service personnel as well. How many Marines do you see in this picture just dying to talk to this Resident? If this were President Bush, whom they knew really did give a damn about them, you would see these Marines crowding around him to shake his hand. This is NOT what you see in this picture. And I can tell you this Marine, if I were still on active duty, would not want this man to so much as touch my uniform.

Yes it is a very nice place. I tried to get orders there too. Lucky most of my time was on Air Stations but I did enjoy Camp Pendelton too. The headquartes building at FMFPac had a beautiful view too. I was there TAD. Was Quartered over at Pearl.Real hardship tour, NOT...

Obama is in a power pose here. Hands on the hips, and exposing his genitalia to the Marines communicates his interest in reminding them that he is in charge of them.

Marine is in a defense posture here. Arms crossed, chin down and a look of irritation in his eyes. Also, the Marine next to him (red shirt) has a look of frustration on his face. Almost seems to be saying, "WTF is this worthless @sshole doing in our mess hall while we are just trying to eat our dinner?"

The USMC clearly does not trust the Communist in Chief, and I am glad to see that they have the common sense that so many fools in this Republic lack.

I can only say the First Frump looked nice once..that was at the time of the party crashers...she wore a long gold gown and it was nice. The rest of the time she looks worse than hired help.

Trenchant satire, and sadly, probably true.

Good job.

I agree the body language is telling. Normally, unless directed to keep his seat, when someone of rank is speaking to them, a Marine would stand. This Marine, God love him, is not happy to be being addressed, I don’t think. His arms are crossed, a signal he is closed off to 0bama. And if you look beyond this Marine to the ones in the distance, how much interest do you see? None. If this were President Bush they would be crowding around.

That was not satire. (said with a straight face...)

But thanks...I have difficulty believing there are Marines who support this man and his agenda. I know there must be some, but I cannot help but think they are a minor percentage.

Poor guy. His posture is telling. Normally, if this were a positive encounter, as another poster stated, He would be standing and they would be facing each other, man to man. At the very least, in that situation, a person who was open would probably sit backwards in their chair and put their hands on the table top.

However, I am sure Obama insisted he not stand, not as part of a power trip, but because he probably felt it would be more egalitarian.

That would only be more egalitarian if he pulled up a chair himself and sat for a minute.

Why not? She walked in with a Turkey.

Pres. Bush has been known to not only just show up at Christmas dinner, but also to serve Christmas dinner to our troops.

This guy should not interrupt the Marines' meal. Could he not at least wait until they were done eating. His visit caused some of them to have to eat cold food.

Agreed.

He is trying to have his cake and eat it to.

This worthless CIC should have gotten his sorry butt to Afghanistan either on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Oh well.

Not like the guy will ever be popular with the military.

Having served in the USMC, I can only imagine what the conversations were like back in the barracks and other facilities when these perps weren’t around.

“Has he made a cross out of rocks yet?”

Michelle would need to be just out of the frame in a horribly designed bathing suit.
