What About Holding People Accountable?
American Thinker ^ | 12/26/09 | Clarice Feldman

The U.S. Transportation Safety Administration has responded to the aborted bombing of a NW Airlines plane in Detroit with its usual inanity--make the passengers suffer more, in this case by forcing inbound international flight passengers to remain seated a full hour before planes are due to land. As the attempted bomber was sitting at the time of the event, it is hard to imagine what if anything TSA is thinking of, except perhaps that passengers are stupid enough to continue to believe such measures provide any security at all .

I have another idea: Let's start holding people in the responsible bureaucracies accountable for their negligence.

Another major security breach and everyone is acting like it's nobody's fault as TSA makes travel even more punishing for the rest of us.

We could do a favor for all these folks and come up with the new rules/regulations ourselves and save them the trouble of doing their jobs. We’re always 5 steps ahead of them anyway.

If the perpetrator had worn green pants and a purple shirt, we could make sure that all persons in the same colored attire could be barred from ever boarding an airplane and blah blah blah! These people are so simple minded, it makes my head ache.

Why do we have to bend over backward to prove to the Muslim world / Al Qaeda / Bin Laden, etc. that we are treating EVERYONE the same with security measures? Why is our politically correct culture supposed to impress people who want to kill us?

And after Obama has been trying to make nice with the Muslim world, they are still trying to kill us? What do Obama and company really think about continuing terror attacks and attempts against America?

With limited resources, does it really make sense to treat the 80 year old grandmother and the young Muslim male from a foreign country as equal terror threats???????

I know the terrorists want to kill us, but political correctness may also get us all killed.

holding people accountable.

Even the woman in charge of the guest list who pissed off her job and attended the party was not to be made accountable.
I bet those who did not inform the president will not be held nor will those who let this guy slip through the cracks.

Open and accountable in todays climate is not around any more sadly.

What happened to us being loved?

Even the muslim world views bozo as a muslim and this still goes on

I am so tired of the “holding people accountable” phrase coming from our politicians. They don’t mean it and it has become completely shopworn. Anyone who uses it should be hit in the face with a dead trout.

That would require to 'top dogs' Obama, Reid & Pelosi to be held responsible for anything!

As we all know – thanks to being told so by successive administrations — Islam is the religion of peace*. Thanks to the actions of this one brave passenger — who fully understood that he had nothing to lose — this incident remained a small one.
Thanks to PC and the chronic disease known as “Cranial Anal Inversion Syndrome” among most alleged American “leaders” all the way up to the White Mosque — er — House, this “small” incident — and all like it in the future — will disappear down the Orwellian memory hole.
By their INACTION and persistence in their denial that we are at war with a determined and dedicated enemy, these alleged “leaders” have 100% guaranteed the the next one will NOT be “small.”
* BTW, “peace” has two definitions:
1. The absence of conflict or war.
2. The ABSENCE or SUPPRESSION OF RESISTANCE TO SOME FORCE, POLICY, IDEOLOGY or POLITICAL SYSTEM, etc. WITH WHICH ONE HAS AN ABIDING DISAGREEMENT WHICH ONE WOULD OTHERWISE ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT TO THE POINT OF TAKING UP ARMS.

All 65+ Irish Catholic grandmothers must be subjected to at least one more layer of security. We can’t have events like this without a response by the professional unionized TSA employees who keep us safe.

How about a regulation that says “No bombs on airplanes”? Wouldn’t that do the trick? Then TSA could focus on identifying likely perpetrators instead of something totally useless like keeping passengers glued to their seats for the last 90 minutes of the flight.

Today’s GS exam must have only one question on it — “Are you a moron? Y / N”

Mental note to self: Assemble bomb just after takeoff or prior to 1 hour before landing.

Sorry, but on this one I think they are right not to 'profile.' At least, not unless they flat deny access to anyone fitting 'the profile.' You underestimate how evil they are.

If 80 year old grandmothers were not just as likely to be searched as anyone else, then the terrorists will use 80 year old grandmothers as 'mules' to carry their weapons on board.

If they showed up at a grandmother's house, murdered her son-in-law right before her eyes, and told her they'd do the same to her daughter and grand-daughter unless she carried something on the plane, 99% of the grandmothers in the world would do it.

The way to prevent that is to make it clear that everyone has a more-or-less equal chance of being searched. With that established, then there is no incentive to use innocents to smuggle weapons on the plane.

Frankly, my solution would be to profile, but at the point of boarding. On random flights, flat out refuse to allow anyone fitting the profile to board the plane at all. Flat out refuse to allow more than one person fitting 'the profile' to board any single flight (which wouldn't have helped in this case, but would have on 9/11).

And allow anywone with a valid state-issued concealed handgun license to bypass security entirely.

If we are so stupid as to grant a visa and landing rights to people like this, the only relevant new rule TSA could pass would be binding all passengers with duct tape upon boarding.

Have a pot-bellied pig on board walking the aisles.........Green Acres Pig-meisters Redux

“An Israeli friend recently informed me that the UK fought the Islamic terrorist attacks by burying the criminals with a pig. Apparently the Islamic belief is that if ones’ body is buried with a pig (because they are considered unclean) their soul will go to hell. I did a little research into this subject matter and found it to be true. This got me thinking.

If we put a baby pig on every airline flight then all suicide terrorists would abort their missions as they would not want their souls to go to hell. Additionally, if we drop shipped, oh say, 100,000 pigs into Afghanistan I think our recon and assault efforts may be more successful. Apparently Muslims dislike the very sight of pigs A LOT!”

Of all places, this was on SNOPES.

Precisely the thoughts running through my head. When zer0 ascended to his throne all the "Hate America" was supposed to come to an abrupt end - we were told that by every single one of zer0's supporters. The cowboy had now left the WH.

All we need are signs that say "Bomb Free Zone" on the planes. It must work for the "Drug Free Zone" signs near schools. /s

How about a regulation that says “No bombs on airplanes”?

A few years ago I was returning from a trip to Spain with my children, visiting their grandparents, when at the Madrid airport a TWA employee approached me and asked me point blanc "do you have a bomb in your suitcase?" I considered answering "yes, doesn't everybody carry one?" but I figured it probably was not worth the trouble. But y'all have to agree, THAT WAS SECURITY! I wondered why, not to far from there, El Al was almost strip searching its passengers.

Not only the bureaucrats, but the terrorists themselves never pay for their deeds. So far, the only one put to death has been the DC Sniper; the rest of them are either lolling about in jail or are huddling with their lawyers.

Hasan is busy working on his defense, and this guy too will be out there lawyer shopping in no time at all. There’s no downside for them; they get out and go right back to terrorism, or in the worst case, they coordinate it from jail. Kill them.

You know. Important $hit.

Even when the terrorists lose, they win, thanks to this bloated bankrupt affirmative-action government.

It’s not the private jet politicians and well paid “public servants” fault that a Muslim 20-something male engineering student from Nigeria on a no fly list almost managed set off a bomb on a plane on Christmas day?

Why should they suffer when all of us can suffer for them?

Simple solution.

Have passengers show up one hour prior to boarding, all in one room. Passengers then mingle and interview each other. Anyone suspicious of a fellow passenger reports them to security personnel.

If Security passes the person then a group of 5 to 10 passengers interviews the suspicious passenger. If a majority are still suspicious then the suspect has to justify himself to the entire passenger group.

Finally, upon boarding the aircraft, all passengers are issued baseball bats. On arrival at the destination terminal the baseball bats are returned to the airline.

We, the passengers, are responsible for our security.

PS All passengers are free to profile and be totally non-PC.
If you don’t like being profiled then you are free to fly another airline or to another destination.

Force everyone that flies to get a swine flu vaccination at the boarding gate. If one refuses, they don’t fly.

Radically devout Muslims (terrorists) would refuse, being that they would not abide by having anything ‘swine’ put into their body.

Twin Towers showed the problem with your plan. UN security would be worse than Boston's was. What you need is to physically separate the problem (pool of potential terrorists, or simple fools) from as much control over the vehicle and as much potential energy (airspeed, altitude, fuel) as possible.

There IS a technological solution that could work. Terribly non-PC, but the needed tech is literally battle proven, improving and getting cheaper every day. Now give me a break, I'm dreaming this up on the fly... The solution is tethered gliders. They could take off and land connected, or detach and have the glider land under remote control. The pull planes could be piloted or also remotely operated. Call the system Al-Burāq [the pull planes] and the Flying Carpets [gliders] and the outfit Djinn Air.

Have whole plane parachutes for the glider as an automatic crash protection feature and also as a remote safety backup. As tethered gliders aren't the most efficient way of flying, haul all luggage other than minimal hand luggage separately. None of the glider controls would be accessible from inside. Nothing in the glider can affect the pull plane (with the energy from mass and fuel.) Have cameras and two way communications to monitor the cabin and pull the chute if they try to pull anything. It's as close to fool (etc.) proof as you're going to get.

“Let’s start holding people in the responsible bureaucracies accountable for their negligence.”

The sole purpose of a fascist bureaucracy is to make it unaccountable to the people. It can illegally write “laws” while the people can’t control it through the ballot box. The uncontrolled bureaucracy is a primary facet of every dictatorship.

America has been suffering under this problem since the 1920s. The idiot Marxist courts have wrongly and illegally held the Congress may give its law-making powers to unelected bureaucrats. Congress may not do so any more than obuma can give his war-making power to Bill Ayers. The fact of bureaucrats writing law was mentioned several times in our Declaration of Indepence as reason to rid ourselves of the corrupt English Crown.

This is a very dangerous situation. Should Americans decide that following the rule of law is no longer palatable or in their interest, these bureaucrat dictators may be removed by the only means remaining - kill them all.
