US authorities have known for months that the al Qaeda-linked Nigerian who tried to blow up a passenger jet before it landed in Detroit had terrorist ties -- and his own father even alerted them to his extremist behavior, it was revealed yesterday.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, who was charged in federal court with attempting to destroy Northwest Flight 253 on Christmas Day, remained hospitalized with burns suffered in the failed attempt.
He was read the charges at a hearing, where he appeared smiling in a medical gown and a wheelchair.
Several key details came to light yesterday:
* Al Qaeda operatives in Yemen sewed into Abdulmutallab's underwear a condom filled with three ounces of a nitroglycerin-like compound after he spent a month training with the terror organization, sources told ABC News.
"One flight attendant asked him what he had had in his pocket, and he replied, 'Explosive device,' " according to the Justice Department.
* Abdulmutallab was added to the 550,000 suspects on a watch list kept by the US National Counterterrorism Center in November and had been on government radar for months. Yet there wasn't enough negative information about him to put him on the no-fly list.

Obama had all of his spin meisters out this morning trying to cover his ass instead of him facing the American people and condeming this act of terror.
The AP is covering for Obama by putting the blame on Mutallab’s father. When will Obama ever take responsibility. The Brits canceled the terrorist’s visa.

People need to start thinking about why our crazy President and his minions would ALLOW an airline to be blown up in the air.
What strong arm legislation would this crazy fool of a President and his Democrats ram through Congress meant to “protect” us from future attacks but would only infringe on our freedoms even more than his abomination health care reform?
Would Obama allow 300 Americans to die to further this goal? Look at how he treats his own starving extended family. Look at how he spends time on the beach instead of visiting troops in combat.

Glad to see this report that we've known about him for months because there's already been cover ups claiming he's only been on the radar as short as four weeks and that dad didn't tell us until last month. Reports from out of the control of the US msm have the time line as far back as two YEARS.
