Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."
Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the suspect] was improperly screened."
The system worked? You have to be joking. How can she claim it worked when a man was able to get a bomb on board a plane and almost set it off were it not for a bad detonator and some heroic passengers?

I watched smarmy Gibbs on Fox this morning. He blamed Bush in all but name. He said that it this incident was possible because of “old policies” that were in place. Blaming others is the stock-and-trade of the Obummer administration.

She really should have been removed from office months ago after sending out the bulletin to watch them white “TEA BAGGERS” as terror suspects, and then there was the bulletin after the Major Hassan thing to tell HSA to be on the look out for backlash against Muslims.
Now we have this fiasco.

Well, you have to view it from their point of view. The bomber made it onboard with the bomb and went through with the act. It was an engineering failure that did not allow the bomb to go off. Now new rules are being instituted so that passengers can’t leave their seats and interfere with terrorists plans to blow up infidels. The “system” will work even better for Napolitano and Obama now.
The "system" was basically just a bunch of ordinary people who tackled the guy and apprehended him.
So, yeah -- I guess "the system" really did work. But we don't need a Department of Homeland Security with a mediocre dyke running it if this is the kind of security we're going to rely upon.
