Napolitano: The “System Worked”..Even Though A Bomb Made It Through Security
Flopping Aces ^ | 12-27-09 | Curt

Gotta agree with Jonah here....fire Napolitano.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."

Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."

Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the suspect] was improperly screened."

The system worked? You have to be joking. How can she claim it worked when a man was able to get a bomb on board a plane and almost set it off were it not for a bad detonator and some heroic passengers?

Under this individual, DHS has become a Napolitano-headed “ho” of the Left...

Hope and change. We hope that they won’t be successful in their evil endeavors. We have changed from actively seeking them out. Now we just hope for the best.

If the Republicans hope to take advantage of the huge opportunity to wrest control of Congress from the leftists in 2010, they need to hire a strong PR/marketing consultant and begin mouthing talking points. When Obama and the Dems blame “old policies”, Bush, or the Republicans every Republican should ask — “When can the American people expect the President to assume responsibility for the office to which he was elected?”

Keep hammering away on every talk show and interview this message. The American people expect the President to be accountable. Hold him to it. James Carville successfully kept everyone in the 1992 Clinton campaign on the message of the economy — “It’s the economy stupid”. It is a losing game to attack Obama on policy or personality as the retort will always be a charge of racism. However, asking him to be accountable is not unreasonable. If the opposition hammers away on this issue he can run from it but the voters will hold him to it.

Sure, The CHICAGO SYSTEM worked for Napolitano.

“Most of these so-called security procedures do absolutely nothing for security. They are designed just to be feel good measures to make us think the government is going to prevent terrorism.”

The way to avoid an incident is to prevent a terrorist from boarding, not to restrict the freedom of the people on the plane. This terrorist was given a multi-year, multi entry visa when he should have been denied entry in the first place. What is the government doing to place restrictions on entry into the country? NOTHING!

I’ve been disgusted by the word “thwarted” used all over the MSM.

NOTHING was “thwarted”.
The bomb failed to detonate as intended, but that’s because of incompetence on the part of the terrorist.

the only thing that worked were some really pissed off passengers that stopped the dirt bag from succeeding

No! One frightened passenger (Schuringa) had the wherewithall to take action.

Napolitano added that there was “no suggestion that [the suspect] was
improperly screened.

It will be interesting if the story about the bomber-to-be being helped
aboard the plane at Amsterdam WITHOUT A PASSPORT/VISA is verified.
Under the ruse (sp?) of being a Sudanese refugee.

If so, Napolitano should hope that she gets her choice of sauces for
the crow she’ll be served.

Especially if she has to explain that there is some sort of “a wink
and a nod” arrangement to allow “refugees” from Islamic hellholes to
enter the USA just if they have enough money to get to a European
airport and pay for airfare to the USA.

Yes...and apparently Napolitano thinks passengers are part of the "system"....makes one all warm and fuzzy that when we buy a ticket we are also expected to tackle terrorists too.

Both Gibbs and Napolitano both need to go now. So far in one year of the Obama adminstration being in office we have suffered 2 terror attacks (recruiting center and Ft Hood) and one almost with this lastest one. Gibbs said something about how secuirty shouldn’t be a partison issue....it wasn’t one until the Dems started telling everyone that there was no war on terror and started undermining everything that Bush put in place to protect us. Wasdn’t it just a few months back that they were talking about doing away with the no fly list? Iddiots that both need to go now!

The system worked. Hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans were inconvenienced so liberals could feel good about themselves - and their "lack of prejudice"... Isn't that always the issue? The ONLY issue? I wonder if Janet and her gang of idiots would have responded the same way if the terrorists had been members of the Branch Dividian Compound and David Koresh was still their leader?

I suspect all their preening and strutting would be gone - they'd be ready to "burn em down"...

Of course it worked, they randomly screened the passengers and several US Veterans and an older white woman in an wheelchair were checked...nothing found but this system deterred future passengers from attempting any terrorist acts

I work for TSA/DHS, and the airports overseas have their own screening. To my knowledge, TSA does not have oversight of the Amsterdam airport, and therefore couldn’t take blame or credit, either way.

This is very interesting in light of the fact that the Obama administration has just surrendered American sovereignty to Interpol, which will be allowed a freedom of action of within the USA that is not allowed to domestic police agencies.

But when it comes to who boards an American carrier in Europe bound for an American airport, we have no control? Why am I not surprised?

(TSA/HSA is a big outfit and undoubtedly has some competent and dedicated employees, the poster included, I am sure. Many, though, especially at the screener level, are merely part of a federal jobs program and would be less than competitive in the private job market. This latest news notwithstanding, I feel better knowing that Europeans are screening for us. And, of course, we didn't designate this guy a "no fly," did we? If the physical screening at some originating airports is inadequate, then that is still on us. No planes fly to the USA unless we say they can. Our oversight responsibility is inescapable.)

But with Muslims? It's just one more way for these hateful "public servants" to shove it in the faces of conservatives. They would stand with the devil if it gave the finger to conservatives.
