The passengers did great. However, they did not "stop" anything.

They apparently stopped a conflagration aboard the aircraft. A bit more delay and the fire might have become unstoppable by mere hand held extinguishers, and at the least we'd have ended up with a bunch of pax dead of smoke inhalation, and blinded, or nearly blinded pilots attempting to land a flaming aircraft.

That warning alone should have prompted somebody, somewhere in our huge security apparatus to note that he had an open multi visit visa and that UK had denied him entry. It reminds me of the FBI refusing to act on information they received before 9/11 on the flight student who only wanted to learn how to fly, not land. FBI didn’t investigate or follow through. Had they, it just might have prevented the 9/11 attack.
