Thailand has begun deporting a group of about 4,000 ethnic Hmong back to communist Laos, despite international concerns for their safety.
Thai officials said unarmed soldiers began closing a camp for Hmong refugees in northern Phetchabun province.
Thailand describes them as economic migrants. The Hmong say they face persecution in Laos because they sided with US forces during the Vietnam war.
The UN had urged the Thais to call off plans to deport them.

I was going to say something funny and snide...but....
You seem pretty passionate about this.
Just deport the food.
I have had some concoctions from Laos that would turn your face inside out for a week.
Generally I dont have an issue with these folks, but some of the stuff the men eat while drinking is skeery
The Hmong kinda remind me of Appalachian mountain men.
Very clannish and odd traditions, but they understand freedom.
They are great people. Never forget that they were our very loyal allies a long time ago.
I understand, and I will never forget.
very familiar with this. my wife is from Laos.
this will lead directly to murder.
i’ve driven through hmong settlements in the north. lao soldiers are posted between the villages with AK47s. but there is no such thing as law. these soldiers are also just kids and early 20 somethings.n
Are u nutz? Hmongs cannot assimilate. Ask the residents of wisconsin and minnesota.
Why should thailand take the hmongs?
We have plenty in Tx with no incidents
maybe a few run ins with the game warden but thats all
I live in Wisconsin. The Hmong DO assimilate. Maybe they don’t assimilate at the rate you’d like, but they are overall decent people who do not deserve this. Take your racism and shove it.
I used to live near Appleton. If you saw a group of Hmongs, you knew to get away as fast as possible. The gangs up there were notorious and violent. I worked in the Barrio in San Diego. The Hmongs in Wisconsin scared me far more than the Crips. Just my experience though. I do not consider myself racist. I consider myself to be aware of the way things are and deal with them appropriately.
No point in expecting President Hussein to do the right thing and allow these brave people to emigrate to the US.
It’s a matter of historic record that when congress refused to allow American forces to honor our treaty obligations with the Republic of Vietnam in the wake of Vietnamization, so called, South Vietnam rapidly fell to Les Termites Jaunes.
Less well known is that the same thing happened in Laos in the wake of our Secret War against the communist Pathet Lao.
Thus, our Hmong allies there, who had courageously sacrificed homes and lives as they carried our freight during that war, fell victim to hideous persecution from the Lao communists, against whom they had fought at our side for many years.
At the cost of their homes and their nation, they exfiltrated Laos at enormous risk, often leaving a trail of the corpses of family members behind them, making their way in small groups to Thailand in the hope that their American ally would thereafter take them in.
Fat chance. Those who could present “documentation” that they had participated in the war were absorbed; many, if not most, had left all papers behind them, along with the bodies of their loved ones.
Now, our spineless congress and our Moslem-symp president, while allowing into the country every job hunter south of the border, as well as Moslem would-be terrorists by the planeload, refuses to assist our erstwhile allies in battle.
Why?
Because they want to make us believe that the Cold War never happened; that Russia and China thrived under communism; and that the sheeple of the United States really - deep down - want a communist regime in power.
Any dissent - as, for example, by a fiercely independent and courageous people who laid down life and limb for freedom - is anathema to the Greater Purpose of establishing The Great American Socialist People’s Republic.
Sorry, Hmong Freedom Fighters; once again, an American administration backed by a weak-willed and compliant congress turns its back on history and dumps its late friends in the name of political expediency.
But, hey, given the nature of the world in which we find ourselves, isn’t a quick bullet in the back of the neck for you, your wife, and your kids, from some Lao trooper, better than a life of endless enslavement and constant persecution?
What’s that? Freedom in the United States? Don’t be silly - that’s reserved for those immigrants ready to accept the sort of socialism and corruption they left behind in their home nations.
Oh, Brave, New World!

Many current photos on this link
These little girls are dead kids walking , if forced back into Laos . At the least they will end up as sex slaves somewhere ,forever ripped away from their families .
There is no one to blame for this but the THAI GOV
They are ignoring all entreaties not to do this .
Such scum . I have lost all respect for them .
Really, I heard the hmongs wear diapers when they go to the Oneida Casino in Green Bay so they don’t have to leave their slot machines.
This generation of hmongs cares nothing about America - it’s a meal ticket
Well we have allowed kurds in Nashville. All they have done is form gangs and take advantage od govt handouts.
sorry , in my statement ‘some Hmong are terrible’ I was referring to both the Red Hmong that joined the Pathet Lao to hunt and kill their brother Hmong , but also to the stupid young Hmong boys and girls who have become absorbed in the hip-hip gangster rap culture here in the US and become ‘terrible’ parodies of what they should not be seeking to emulate in any way ,shape or form . But they do....They have lost their connection with their elders and their roots and given themselves up to sex, drugs ,violence and money . They no longer qualify as Hmong .
Yet none of this should be a consideration in our support of the Hmong people oppressed and abused in both Laos and Thailand . Here I agree with you 101% The communist Lao are just animals and that is their sick excuse , but the Thai should be better than that . They are poor Buddhists and have totally forgotten how their Hmong allies helped save their own beloved country , Thailand, for the tide of evil communism sweeping SEA in the 1970’s . Many Thai soldiers
and pilots owe Hmong fighters their lives ,in saving them from NVA and Pathet Lao attacks and/or rescue . Now their sons have forgotten this and are acting as the puppets of the corrupt high level Thai military who take under the table money for their Lao Army counterparts ,who will not rest until all Lao Hmong people are utterly crushed ,enslaved and subjugated. Shame on Muang Thai and a-hea asat
Pathet lao
