Max Baucus Drunk During Health Care Debate (Plus Baucus's girfriend Melodee Hanes)

Video of Baucus drunk at link

We have already complained about the media double standard in the coverage of Senator Max Baucus' (D-MT) recent ethical problems. Now comes the clearest evidence yet in the form of this video. It already has 176,000 views on YouTube but it has so far been ignored by the major TV networks and newspapers. Let's remember that Baucus is the architect of the Senate-passed health care plan.

Let’s also review what else has the media has virtually ignored. Baucus recommended Melodee Hanes, his live-in ‘girlfriend,’ to the White House for nomination for Montana’s U.S. Attorney’s post. He claimed that he pulled the recommendation only as things heated up, a fact that was contradicted by Jodi Rave, who was at the time a reporter for a Montana newspaper. Rave says that Baucus only pulled it after she informed Baucus’ office that she was going to report on Baucus’ relationship with Hanes.

Even worse, Lee Newspapers in Montana reported that Hanes met at least twice with a divorce lawyer on Baucus’ behalf in 2007, months before Baucus and his wife discussed divorce. According to billing records, Hanes discussed items such as “proposed property settlement,” and “market valuation of house.” Baucus’ office claimed that Hanes met with the divorce lawyer in her “official capacity.” Yeah sure.

This is as tawdry and improper as anything of which Senator John Ensign (R-NV) stands accused. Yet Ensign faces a full-fledged ethics investigation, and nonstop media coverage. Of course, the Ensign story is making everyone's year-end political scandals list.

These insane rotten communists (formally Democrats) are going off the deep end. Franken’s rage adds to the insanity. We are being ruled by the corrupt filthy anti-Americans and their time is coming. Americans are getting real tired.

What does Baucus normally sound like?

Maybe he’s just naturally inarticulate.

I am a recovering alcoholic and I have a finely tuned drunkdar. Trust me on this: He was trashed.

For me it took about 8 double shots of vodka to get “there.”

Its the Nazi’s all over again, almost exactly. They were voted in by an idiot populace, have solidified their power and seeking more, are promoting eugenics, and are in-your-face arrogant. However, they have not taken our guns yet and will not be able to so this thing is not going to last very long, and certainly not the 12 years that the original Nazi’s lasted.

I’m a teetotaler, so I defer to your expertise.

I’ve just known some sober people who could not express themselves to save their lives. Wasn’t sure if Baucus was one of them.

I couldn’t read the time stamp on the video. At what time of the evening was Baucus speaking? Is it likely this was late in the evening, after a multi-cocktail dinner with some of his wealthy contributors and lobbyists?

I thought those in Montana had their heads screwed on right. For them to let this loose screw in office makes me think that Montanans have let their guard down for freedom and are letting the Rats push them into God knows what.

Come on Montana! Get off the couch and stand up for what is right!

Yeah, that whole adultery gig just doesn't work for me either. Admission of guilt is a minuscule (no! even smaller than that!) crumb of recompense. Baucus isn't even doling out that crumb, however.

Does Montana law allow for recall elections?

To answer my own question, apparently it does. The following is from http://www.ehow.com/how_2096900_recall-us-senator.html :

“The 18 states allowing for recall are as follows: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.A website or a phone campaign are good ways to get your petition going. Going door-to-door is also an option although it is more time consuming than the other two. This is important since you only have a set number of days to obtain the correct number of signatures-anywhere from 30 to 180 days. You will be fighting an uphill battle to recall a U.S. Senator. No member of Congress has ever been recalled in the history of the United States.”

Come on Montana freepers and Tea Party activists, start a recall movement.

Many of them do.

Just because one has the opportunity to cheat doesn’t mean it’s right to do.

IMNSHO, it’s also indicative of the general character of the person.
