Palin's "Going Rogue" has long wait list at SF Public Library
My daughter | 12/29/2009 | self

Figuring that there would be no problem getting a copy of Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" from our San Francisco neighborhood library, our college daughter, home for the holidays, was surprised to learn that although the SF Public Library system has 30 copies of "Going Rogue" that all 30 are out on loan and that there are 103 people on the waiting list!

Typical SF libs - too cheap to spend their own money on a book, yet happy to spend our money on their cr*pola entitlement giveaways.

LOL!
Thst is just sooooooooooooo funny.
Read this:

San Francisco booksellers would rather lose money than go ‘Rogue’

On a mission to show that Palin’s book is selling much worse than, say, the idea of reading Osama Bin Laden his Miranda rights, the San Francisco Chronicle interviewed several local booksellers to find out how well sales of “Going Rogue” were not going:

Our customers are thinking people,” said Nathan Embretson, a bookseller at Pendragon Books in Oakland. “They're not into reading drivel.

“Anything like that we wouldn't carry,” said clerk Emily Stackhouse at Cover to Cover Books in San Francisco. “We're a small store and it would probably gross us all out. Some things you carry because of freedom of speech, but a book like that is just gross.

I’m not sure but I think Sarah may be appealing to gays. I have several gay friends (I’m not, but that’s my choice under a free country) but they hint that pols that support individual freedoms are more favored than lib talkers. Anyone else sense that? Hillbuzz has been supporting Sarah for months.

I’m reading it now. My daughter gave me a signed copy for Christmas.

Ever think that those 30 copies of Sarah’s book are really just sitting in a box down in the basement at the SF library and they never intend on loaning them ouy? Fake waiting list?

Gayness is immaterial; Gov. Palin appeals to any commonsense, freedom-loving person.

She’s a small-gov libertarian type (as Todd certainly is as well), and she’s Christian without being anti-gay. The more voters get to know her, the more they’ll like her.

Or, there may not be a place to buy it at a brick and mortar store. I remember reading on FR about the bookstore in SF that claimed their customers were "intelligent" and didn't want to read that drivel. I'm sure more than one bookstore thought it was "brave" to follow suit.

But, I agree with you on the entitlement giveaways and general idiocracy of the average San Fagciscoan.

I just got mine last week from the Los Angeles Public Library. A surprisingly short list.

The Reagan book some years ago was about 500 deep.

Buy the book, already. Why would you want to borrow a disgusting copy from a filthy San Fransisco library? The previous borrowers were likely freaks and pervs and losers that probably spread their disease in the books for sh!tS and giggles.

Uh, oh! Like I tell everyone I talk to about “Going Rogue”. If you don’t like Palin and want to keep on not liking her, don’t read the book.

I wouldn't put much stock in this.

My hopelessly lib wife wants to read Going Rogue, but doesn't want to be seen buying it.

I'll get it for her, but I don't think it will do any good.

First thought, given the true tolerance levels of the “COEXIST” crowd. Hopefully not, though. I bought her book as a Christmas gift for a loved one who was happy to receive it!

My bet is that Going Rogue is probably the most requested book at libraries around the entire country. Over the coming 14 or 15 months, probably another 1 or 2 million people will read it from the libaries, several million more will borrow it from a friend, family member, neighbor or co-worker, and then the 3 or 4 million people who have bought it or will buy it in the coming months, then there are those who will buy it from used book stores, and I’m sure a paperback version will come out in the spring. All good, the more people who read it the better.

Our county library system has 21 copies and we have nowhere near the population of SF

Last I looked I was 68th on our list. But I already got the abridged audio CD, read by Sarah — because not too many people know we have a big audio CD program in our library system, so there were only 7 of us waiting for them to order the CDs.

Or maybe they're too stupid to try to find it online. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. all have it available. But libs are just too stingy to actually BUY a book.

I received a copy as a Christmas gift from my youngest son (20 years old), so I can read it at any time. ;o)

True... which is why I specifically mentioned brick and mortar stores. I also stated that I agreed with you concerning the stupidity of the average lib in SF. It is still pretty cool that there is a strong demand for Palin's book at the library. My wife reads books at the cyclic rate. While we are not in (thank God) SF or anywhere near the left coast we cannot afford to buy 3 or 4 books a week for her... hence her frequent visits to the library. We're not stingy, we just don't have that kind of money. Of course she also borrows a lot of books to read our children. I will say that she did buy me "Going Rogue" for Christmas. I will also say that I doubt all of the people beating down the library doors for "Going Rogue" are libs.
