Why we must unite behind Nikki Haley. All of us.

Interestingly, as I write this, word comes from the paper that one of the GOP candidates for Governor of South Carolina, has been AWOL from his day job. Gresham Barrett, a South Carolina Congressman, has been absent from more votes in the United States House of Representatives than any other Congressman, Democrat or Republican.

Barrett is, like the other guys in the race, a good guy, but I have to ask what these guys have sacrificed for their principles. We are used to guys compromising in the name of comity and saving face and power. Rarely do we see a politician willing to be punished for sticking up for principles.

That brings up to Nikki Haley. Back in 2008, Nikki Haley was up to be chairman of the South Carolina House’s powerful Labor, Commerce and Industry (LCI) Committee.

Unfortunately for Haley, she had pushed legislation for greater transparency and spending restraint in the state legislature. The Republicans in the state legislature who talk a good game on fiscal conservatism, but don’t practice it, were angry. They told Haley if she did not back down, they would punish her.

She refused. The House Speaker yanked her chairmanship.

Au contraire. At least Bubba doesn’t pretend to be a Republican. That’s what makes him more honest than Willard.

We should do all we can to defeat Barrett.

“Initially, U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett was against the failed Bush bailout of Wall Street … but then he turned around and voted for it.”

http://www.fitsnews.com/2009/04/08/barrett-loves-him-some-stimulus-now/

He paid for it at the Greenville, SC Tea Party. We tried to boo him off the stage.
http://www.youtube.com/user/triplej2002#p/u/2/EsOtJNARdlE Of course, another FReeper thinks Barrett is a real Conservative.

Well, McCain picked Palin for VP, and we all hate McCain's guts.

Yet, we still support Palin and she's #1 on conservatives' pick for President.

Maybe she was just following a more seasoned pol’s lead. Folks make a mistake doesn’t make them radioactive unless they have set off a nuke.

I’m not convinced we have anyone running for SC gov that would stand up to 0bama. I’m still undecided.

What we need is a Sarah Palin in SC that will stand up to the good old boys and clean house as needed.

What about Larry Grooms? He seems pretty solid.

He calls Mitt Romney "Slick Willard." I know he rambles a lot and is hard to understand most of the time. He holds the very liberal Boston Globe in high regard obviously and doesn't check his facts much, obviously.

I agree with you there. He is the same-old good ole' boy that we need out of this state if we are ever going to get control of our bad economy.

Nikki Haley all the way. She is the ONLY candidate who was against ALL of the TARP bail-outs. If that doesn't tell you a lot about her than look at her record on fighting the good ole' boys on voting law reform. She is the real deal.

I call her the "Sarah Palin clone of South Carolina."

You are totaly clueless as to why she did that. You need to list to a true conservative Rush Limbaugh more and less of your short-wave crack-pot neo-nazi pastor whomever it is you listen to.

Her support of Romney is irrelevant.

Jim DeMint supported Romney VERY early in the race and DeMint is the most conservative Senator I know of off the top of my head.

Greshem Barrett had the WORST attendance record of ANY congressman. Haley is the ONLY reform candidate of the 4.

Barrett is also using tax payer dollars to travel for his campaign. He’s corrupt as they come.

Another problem for her, she was a committed supporter of Slick Willard for President. I’m supporting Henry McMaster for Governor.

McMaster made a mess of the RNC as its chairman. HE'S THE ESTABLISHMENT. Nikki Haley has FOUGHT the establishment from day one. She's our lady. I will also remind you that both Jim DeMint and Tom Tancredo DISAGREE with you on Mitt Romney as they ENDORSED him.

McMaster was never RNC Chairman. I already addressed your points further up the thread months ago. I don’t believe she has the experience for the job. I also don’t want her using her position as Governor of a key early Presidential primary state to advance the cause of the most odious and dangerous/destructive Socialist RINO as she would likely do.
