HONOLULU — President Obama declared Tuesday that there had been a “systemic failure” of the nation’s security apparatus after being told about more missed signals and uncorrelated intelligence that should have prevented a would-be bomber from boarding a flight for the United States.
The president was told during a private briefing on Tuesday morning while vacationing here in Hawaii that the government had a variety of information in its possession before the thwarted bombing that would have been a clear warning sign had it been shared among agencies, a senior official said.
Two officials said the government had intelligence from Yemen before Friday that leaders of a branch of Al Qaeda there were talking about “a Nigerian” being prepared for a terrorist attack. While the information did not include a name, officials said it would have been evident had it been compared to information about Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old Nigerian charged with trying to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight to Detroit on Christmas Day.
The government also had more information about where Mr. Abdulmutallab had been and what some of his plans were.
Some of the information at the time was partial or incomplete, and it was not obvious that it was connected, the official said, but in retrospect it now appears clear that had it all been examined together it would have pointed to the pending attack. The official said the administration was “increasingly confident” that Al Qaeda had a role in the attack, as the group’s Yemeni branch has publicly claimed.

This is the Iranians. It’s so easy for these dirtbags to fire up the terrorist base and sit back and watch them work. Everything happens for a reason when it comes to ME aggression towards the west. These are foot soldiers for regimes such as the terror regime in Tehran. They are trying to intimidate the US into backing down on the end of year nuke deadline. Lets see, in the last month Tehran instigated the takeover of a an Iraqi oil well and accidently lost track of one of Bin Laden’s daughters. Now the shaman in Yemen which coincidentally is in the middle of an Iranian instigated Shia uprising, is contacting all his sleeper buddies with the go sign.
We showed no survival instinct with respect to our ovespending so why should we expect to dodge the coming nuclear bullet.
That argument will blow up in their faces! (pun intended)
Either they want to close down GITMO and send all the terrorists home or are they going to hold onto these terrorists indefinitely.
They can't very well blame Bush for doing what they themselves are wanting to do now can they?
Obama and cohorts are incompetent. They do not understand the threat nor how to deal with it. An attack is coming. When it comes, he is finished.

The names on this failure aren’t Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, or even good ole Brownie. They are Napolitano, Axlerod, Emanuel, Holder, and most of all, Obama.
The 3 day late response by beach-bum Obama has given added momentum to a story that probably would have stood on its own, but now it seems clear that Napolitano is going to have to go under the Obamamobile. She might have dodged the bullet this time had it not been for her asinine comment about how “the system worked”. She may as well have said “Mission Accomplished”....
I don’t think they can spin this one. Blood sacrifice will be needed.

All he needed to do was turn on a tv or radio. Are they aliens..him and his family? What kid doesnt turn on a tv or radio? What adult doesnt hear, watch or surf for at least some news each day?
