Maybe you might consider Anger Management counceling included in that time away from the TV. A little respect goes a long way.

I take Fox’ side on this, at least to a certain extent...

The cable companies are basically claiming that the over the air content (OTA) is free so they shouldn't have to pay for it. Their spin is they are getting the signal to more customers.

One issue that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that the cable companies are taking the OTA content produced by Fox and others and using technology to inject their own local commercials. At least that is happening here in the new york area.

The end result is that the content producers cannot count the cable audience when charging fees to the clients for the commercials. Therefore, the folks responsible for the content should either be compensated for their products or the local commercials shouldn't be injected.

The cables companies advertise their large “lineup” to attract customers, then use that station's signal to make money on the locally injected commercials.

Btw, TW in NY has already notified its customers that they are raising rates in January, even prior to this issue becoming public.

I still have an antenna on my roof and if the two OTA channels are taken off the cable, I can still get them. I also have the option of switching to Verizon’s FIOS package which will probably happen if TW goes ahead with their plan to remove the channels.

Hey SnakeDoctor:
I’m on Comcast, too. And I hear there is some kind of deal in the works that will merge Comcast and NBC, or one of them will buy the other, or something.

Comcast Triple Play has worked well for me; but it would really go against the grain with me to see one penny of MY money going to NBC. Do you know anything about this?

Mighty odd words from someone who came blasting at me out of nowhere about TV shows; sounding like some sort of psychotic. Seek help. Oh, and that’s “counSeling.”

The Oil Company I work for, forces us to watch Clunker TV (Direct) I hate it also.

At home, I have DISH HD/DVR. The picture quality is 1080p AND IS amazing! The signal is flawless, has not had a blackout in years and the cost is much cheaper that Clunker and I believe Clunker does not yet deliver 1080. I also have reception problems with Direct, even with aiming the dish to it's maximum potential. (Which never gets over 83% compared to 97% signals from DISH’s satellites.)

In other words, DISH has a Satellite network that is literally 3 times larger and stronger than does Clunker TV.

As far as I am concerned, you could not give me Direct TV. Their programming format is just too frustrating.

This affects the FX cable network and NewCorp owned and operated Fox stations, along with NewsCorp owned and operated Fox Sports Net operations.

Any increase in fees paid by Time Warner Cable will be directly paid by subscribers. Murdoch is demanding a nearly 200% increase in fees for rebroadcasting their advertising supported broadcasts of the over the air stations. Stations available for free with an antenna.

Murdoch can sit and spin.

Hey, I bet you must just love CNN and MSNBC. Those “Yankees” on FOX are mostly a bunch of Conservatives ya know.

I live in Cental Florida, Tampa to be exact, but I have Verizon FIOS so this won’t affect me. I just changed from Brighthouse to Verizon FIOS in May. Now I’m glad I did.

Had no problems with FIOS and helluva lot more HD channels than Brighthouse. Brighthouse had only one HD HBO & one HD Cinemax. FIOS has all HBO & Cinemax channels in HD plus lots more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

“This affects the FX cable network”

I have noticed that in the last couple of months or so I have been watching more and more of FX. Hate to lose them!

Too bad. Glenn Beck is well worth watching. I also do appreciate the fact that FOX gives the Conservative standpoint, as well as supports many Conservative shows and commentators. A complete opposite from all the other networks.

I am sure Time Warner will get some gov’t bailout money if they drop FOX and lose subscribers.

But what we really need is cafeteria cable. I’m paying for MTV and other useless channels I don’t want.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bingo. I'll pay a premium for Fox News Channel and a few others--but only if I'm not forced to pay for MSNBC, CNN, etc.

If they were to take away Fox News Channel, I would discontinue cable TV entirely.

It could have been a crappy install but it was tight. All I know is when ever we had high winds we'd either lose signal or have snow issues. Once the wind stopped it would be fine.
That being said I'm happy as a lark with Direct.

That part of FOX is not the part that is in danger of going away. I wish it was tho. My 83 y/o Mom listens to GB and he has her convinced that she is losing her Medicare, Social Security and banking account and therefore will soon lose her house. None of those things are going to happen and I will continue to wallow in her misery taking care of her until the Good Lord sees otherwise.

I don’t really need TV spokesperson(s) to give me a point of view on much of anything....I can think for myself...and have been doing so for many years.

Happy New Year.
