I thought it would be appropriate to revisit the tinderspark for what became an extraordinary, American political movement.
Video at link.
Happy New Year FReepers!
Whoops. Pardon my headline typo.
Indeed!
It was pretty impressive.
Thanks, somewhere yesterday we were talking about who started the TeaParty movement.
This may the the time, the place, and the guy.
It is the guy.
I definitely remember this day, and I recall it started this way. And I am a tea-partier. I went to the Apr 15th tea party in Morristown NJ.
Rick had the guts to tell the truth.
Yeap, me too. Teabagger actually, damned if they’re going to denigrate me with that name, I’m going to wear it proudly and loudly. let’s see what the Leftists will do with that.
Denver 4-15-09, DC 9-12-09, and hopefully DC 4-15-10.
I see 4-15-10 as a rally to prepare for November rather than a protest. I hope that’s how it shapes up.
TERRIFIC post!
HOORAY Rick Santelli! By far the greatest statement/rant from a relatively unknown media person in an unlikely/unsuspecting forum/setting. Amplification has been increased far above its original volume. HOORAY Rick Santelli!
Rick Santelli for Congess!
Absolutely the rant of the year, and historically, this rant and the “death panels” posting by Sarah palin will be two catalysts of the movement that turned back the “unstoppable” Obama socialist tsunami.

Likewise. I went by myself to the state capitol in Lansing Michigan on April 15th (a very cold day) for the rally. I also went to 9/12 in D.C. with 5 other family members and met up with 3 other family members from the D.C. area.
Hooray Huck and other like-minded activists and lurkers!
I’m gonna see if I can make the DC one this year. Sounds like fun.
The guy on the lower left of the screen when he says ‘LETS NOT PAY OUT MORTGAGES...IT’S A MORAL HAZARD” in a sarcastic manner at 1:20
That too was the best part of it.
I went by myself too. It was rainy. I had a couple of hours to spend there before I went to work. Snapped a bunch of pics. Morristown NJ is the home of Washington’s headquarters from the war. There are bronze statue’s in the old town square of Washington, Hamilton, and Lafayette. It was a good setting for the event. Good turnout. And with all the year end retrospectives, all the talk, it’s clear the movement has made some noise. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything (although I couldn’t make the DC event.) I’m going to try to go to the DC event this coming April.
I'm also giving it serious consideration.
The ‘wolfman’, a trader on the floor of the CME in Chicago who often comments on Rick’s rants.
I remember seeing this live and then being rather amazed at the reaction on FR—”Oh CNBC is going to fire Santelli”, “Santelli is toast”. Pfft, he does this kind of rant just about everyday.
No kidding? His smart-aleck soundbites were on the money and compliments Santelli’s rant.
