IRAN: Chinese-made armored anti-riot trucks, equipped with plows, may arrive in Tehran

An opposition news website is reporting that Iran has imported high-tech armored anti-riot vehicles equipped with water cannons that can douse people with boiling water or teargas.

The U.S.-based Persian-language news website Rahesabz, or Green Path, posted a photograph of what it described as a photograph of two of the trucks arriving at the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas in the south.

Please look at full article, and study picture of these anti-riot trucks. Am looking for suggestions of ways to immobilize/kill these vehicles that can be done by civilians with every day items. (No semtex to blow 3 ft deep trenches in front of them....

To me the tires look like the weak link. Best way to immobilize a heavy vehicle carrying 2600 gallon of water would be to flatten the tires. The water alone weighs about 22,000 lbs. A heavy vehicle like this full of 22k lbs of water would have a hard time with a could flat tires.

These are not heavily armored and side windows broken it appears from photos. Attack them from both sides at the same time with projectiles and Molotov firebombs.

Automobiles could be used to block or trap them in narrow streets.

Just to make it fun, have chamber pots emptied on to the cab.

There is a space between the cab and the “Van Box,&rdquo that is ubguarded or covered by any of the onbaord weapons; stuff it with gas soaked rags and then toss a Molotov cocktail at it.

I’ve heard gas in a bag full of styrafoam lit and it sucks the oxygen out of the tank.
Even the iranian guard gots to breath.
There are ways and this kind of plow action can’t sit well with the masses.

Use the same iranian IED technology that uses plasma to cut through the cab and kill the occupants... use roadside bombs... turn al qaeda and iranian technology back upon them.

Large smokey fires will lower visibility and create updrafts to disperse tear gas.

They're helpless if they can see. Also, bottles of used motor oil thrown against the windshield and windows will block vision and provide additional fuel for firebombs.

I thought about that but wondered if they did not have solid tires.

One thouhgt that occurred to me, was if these trucks had to drive near buildings a few well placed bread box sized boulders being dropped from a few strories up, could wreck the cannons.

I would think that a IUD remotely detonated would do it. There is a weakness it looks like in the design with the cab being separate, so I don't know if you need a really serious device. There are guys on the forum who could answer that. I don't think the Chinese are expecting people to be trying to destroy them with more then fire bombs and rocks. Iranians are great chess players simply stage the protest to bring out the trucks out to given spots. They can steal the explosives from the government or make their own. Certainly if the people of the region know how to do something it would be make explosive devices. The neighboring Sunni governments are in such fear of the Tehran government they would happily supply them in secret. I apologize if my idea is lame.

I’ve always considered a large potato is a good quick way to block a regular exhaust pipe, but if it got a defuser screen at the ens, one might need enough time to put a plastic bag over it and duct tape it closed.

I agree with you MilwGuy, the tires are the weakest link, a baseball bat with a heavy spike, swung like Babe Ruth into the sidewall should produce instant deflation.

Also, plain glass bottles with gasoline in them will produce all sorts of problems if thrown at the engine cowling/hood and/or windshield.

A sledgehammer in the grille or the side doors/windows will also do some damage.

Fire is always a good deterent. Diesel, gasoline and varents of racing fuel would be good. Alcohol has the adbantage of not being seen burning in the daylight. The good thing, from those wishing to stop them’s viewpoint is that is consumes the oxygen and creates heat in the vehicle.

Which causes the occupants to vacate. It takes a well trained individual to stay in a burning vehicle because one’s ntural instincts is to flee fire. They may want to stay but their brain keeps telling their feet to do your duty and get me out of here.

The way you kill a tank is a gas bomb into the radiator. Once the radiator starts dumping heat into the engine instead of taking it away from the engine the vehicle get immobile real fast. Also it becomes an oven for the crew who have to bail out.
