White House: Justice Dept. made decision to hold Detroit bomber in civilian justice system
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/3/09 | Byron York

Top Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan says the Justice Department made the decision to handle the case of Detroit terror bomb suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in the criminal justice system.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Brennan was asked why the Obama administration did not choose to treat Abdulmutallab as an enemy combatant. "He was arrested on U.S. soil," Brennan answered. "The Department of Justice makes that determination about what is the best tool to use."

They’re looking to kill us in a war and we have a muslim in the white house who will not call it what it is and we have other radicals who want to go through a civilian court.

IT’S A FRIGGING WAR DUMBARSE

“The Department of Justice makes that determination about what is the best tool to use.”

Hope he doesn’t try it in public.

Of course, the President of The United States has absolutely NO influence over the Justice Department. It’s not like its head works for th POTUS or anything....

Personally, does not matter who made the decision: The simple truth and FACT here is that liberalism has long viewed and treated international terrorism as a law enforcement action, thus why this terrorist, among other terrorists, are given access to our civilian justice system.

The Justice Dept (aka Eric Holder) makes no decisions without the approval of his masters.

Terrorists seem to be gearing up on BO’s watch. We have had 8 years of no attacks because perhaps the would be terrorists were a tad bit afraid of retaliation from the Bush administration. Well they aren’t afraid anymore and they can be sure that they will not be waterboarded and that they will have the rights of American citizens if they are caught trying to kill American citizens. Good job BO.

Personally, does not matter who made the decision:

Strictly speaking, you're absolutely correct. However, it does give us yet another example of the calculated political spinelessness rampant in this administration. As if nobody can see through it.

In early December a man wearing an elf costume at the Southlake Mall in Atlanta got in the line to have his picture taken with Santa.
He told Santa that he had dynamite in his bag.
The 5 foot ,108 lb man was quickly subdued by mall security and did not have dynamite or any weapons.
The elf has been charged with making terroristic threats.
The elf should have claimed to be a Muslim terrorist , actually had a bomb,
shouted Alluhu Akbar at Santa and Barry and Eric would have rolled out the red carpet.

Yep, the old Pontius Pilate routine. And we all know how successful that was for PP's brand image.

You know why they are "gearing up"? Having studied terrorism as long as I have, and I am no expert in the field by far, the vast majority of terrorism is associated or connected with Islamic terrorism. As such, in the Islamic cultural history, appeasement and the pursuit of political correct dialogue only indicates weakness. The lack of strength and will of this administration to combat terrorism, namely Islamic oriented terrorism, has only emboldened Islamic extremists, militants, and terrorists worldwide. In other words, it's like sharks heading for a feeding frenzy courtesy of this weak, jack squat, political correct ridden appeasing Barry administration. The terrorists hated Bush and in hindsight, in a comparison between the Bush administration's handling of terrorism and this current lametard administration's handling of terrorism thus far, they--the terrorists--ultimately respected the strength that Bush showed. They do not respect this current lametard administration and they are acting upon its show of inherent weakness.

2010 is going to get real interesting once the 9/11 and 2009 terrorists’ trials start. I wonder if the Zero admin. will end up arguing in court against itself before the year is out.

I hope the RATS in Congress are ready to run for reelection on the courtroom shows that will be unfolding.

It’s all theirs.

Funny how the Obama Administration can use Bush to support their position when they want to, then bash him when that is to their advantage. One of these days, I’d like to see Bush respond to some of Obama’s crap.

NOTHING is ever Obama's fault because he obviously never makes any decisions. Obama is just the front for the President. He just lectures us and travels. All the decisions are being made behind the curtain. That is what these fools are telling us.

Bush is carrying on his Presidential duties, by acting exactly like an ex-President ought to act. It would be nice to think the press would eventually figure this out and give the guy the credit he deserves for his comportment, though I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

You’re right, by the way. They switch from “Bush did it, so it was bad,” to “Bush did it too, so don’t criticize us” whenever it suits them.
