My girl and I went to see Avater IMAX tonight.
BUT, the next three shows were sold out! Even the regular Avatar 3D was sold out all night. So we saw Sherlock Holmes instead.
BTW, this was on the upper west side of Manhattan. This is going to be the biggest grossing movie ever.

I had mixed feelings about Sherlock Holmes. The Holmes I know is a man of the intellect. Yet this film was non-stop violence. Also, I can’t imagine Sherlock Holmes going about looking like a scruffy Hollywood star on the cover of People magazine. In the Victorian age, no gentleman went out unless he was properly dressed.
On the other hand, I loved Fantastic Mr. Fox, which I saw at Thanksgiving with my family.

Same here. Not a nickel from me.
Even politics aside. The story is cookie cutter and nothing is original at all. It’s all recycled and tired.
This isn’t sci fi, it’s a very expensive and pretty fairy tale.

I knew the story ahead of time, but walked out with my jaw dropping on the special effects. I really like where it put the bar.

It was like watching and listening to a blender full of marbles for 3 hours.

Republicans ARE those blue aliens, in harmony with their economic environment, but under threat from outside forces. The movie is great.

That is why Capitalists need to punish movies that are anti-capitalist by pirating them. Just rent them and burn a copy. If they want to preach against profit they should not earn any.

Leftists are brilliant propagandists. They use cutting edge art and technology and throw in their leftist storyline as an unmentioned oh-by-the-way, and people soak in the message. Conservatism is completely absent on this very important playing field. Instead of trying to buy a football team, Limbaugh should buy a movie studio.

Video games cost more than movie tickets yes, but then MW2 is
# 1. Adult rated, so leaving out a big chunk of the population
# 2 . Bought mostly by young adult males, leaving out women, old folks and most of the population.
# 3. Has over 90% of it's sales on the XBOX 360 and the PS3, which combined have an install base of just 60 million.
# 4. Avatar on the other hand, is open to the entire 6 billion population on the planet, including housewives, grand parents, etc, plus lots of people pay multiple times to watch it.
All that makes MW2’s records even more impressive.

I took my young daughter to see The Princess and the Frog on Friday fully expecting to be, at best, underwhelmed. I was surprised though . . . it was rather good. And the sub message of working hard to achieve your goals and taking responsibility for your own life was just as pleasant and just as surprising.

I think word of mouth is keeping the money flowing in. Yeah, the plot is cliched, the acting is cheesy and the action scenes are too few and far between the long, boring, preachy parts. But the visual effects are just stunning. Pure eye candy. Avatar is the new state of the art.

Hey my wife and I saw the movie this afternoon. 3D IMax and it was awesome. The ref's to Bush were quickly dismissed as trash and we BOTH left with the same feeling as you state:
Republicans ARE those blue aliens, in harmony with their economic environment, but under threat from outside forces. The movie is great.
People are not stupid. We all know which party is the party of death and destruction. The movie is truly EPIC

My eyes rolled many times behind those 3D glasses.
The company and mercenaries were d*cks for sure, but REALLY??? Who on Earth would believe such outlandish leftist-contrived caricatures?
