ON THE INTERNET:
“TSA: Newark terminal locked down”
January 3, 2010 7:52 p.m. EST
SNIPPET: “Police are seeking the individual, who walked from the public side to the sterile side, said TSA spokeswoman Anne Davis. Terminal C was shutdown Sunday evening, she said.
Authorities are reviewing video from airport cameras. They are not sure whether the man was once on the sterile side and went back, or if he never went through screening, Davis said.”
OFF THREAD TOPIC.
Stats on the front page of TSA.gov
TSA Week At A Glance: 12/14/09 To 12/21/09
21 passengers were arrested after investigations of suspicious behavior or fraudulent travel documents
37 firearms found at checkpoints
3 artfully concealed prohibited items found at checkpoints
37 incidents that involved a checkpoint closure, terminal evacuation or sterile area breach
it’s one of the airports I avoid at all costs.
The TSA security there are one of the worst I have ever seen.
I swear most of then must have cheated to have graduated high school, actually middle school.
They’re like little NAZIS because of their power and yet have no clue what their job entails.
I was just at Newark Airport in Nov, & I don't know how you could walk from the 'public side to the sterile side.' There are a lot of security people to stop anyone.
Update: TSA rescreening passengers at Newark’s Terminal C, including those aboard a PAX jet; FAA reports delays of 2 hours - NBC
Everything is just dandy/napolitano-think
No doubt a pesky gun/bible clinger or Amish guy acting up again.
I think you would walk from the public side to the sterile side at Newark the same way a raghead couple could walk in to a State Dinner at the White House without credentials; or the same way a vacationing couple from Georgia could wander into an official White House breakfast two weeks later, without being stopped or questioned.
He created TSA & DHS. I’m going with “yes.”
A “sterile” section of EWR? What an oxymoron! They gotta be kidding. The terminals are dirtier than many 3rd-world airports.
These rescreenings are always an incredible inconvenience and joke. Whatever a person might have smuggled through
could be stashed on the “clean side” and retrieved after the
culprit was rescreened anyway. They might as well hand everyone a lucky penny and send them on their way.......

This truly is Bush's fault -- another example of Dubya's going along with a big-government solution that yielded long-term unintended consequences. The TSA is an absolute disaster, an oppressive, incompetent thugocracy that has ruined the world's finest aviation travel system. Armed with TSA badges and unquestioned authority, the underclass gets "payback" by bullying productive citizens. Idiocracy is upon us...
“Man Skirts Newark Airport Security; Flights Delayed”
Monday, January 04, 2010
SNIPPET: “The man walked down an exit lane at Terminal C about 5:30 p.m., Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Ann Davis said, and screening was halted while authorities looked at surveillance tapes to try to identify him.
Passengers were then moved from the secure side of the terminal, which is used primarily by Continental Airlines Inc., to the open side to go through screening again, Davis said in a statement. Passengers waited in check-in areas.
The terminal was searched thoroughly to make sure no dangerous objects were in it before the security checkpoints reopened around 11:45 p.m., the TSA said. The man wasn’t found, but the TSA said its re-screening effort ensured every passenger was fully screened.”
