We do. They'll step up just when we need them the most. Many are already serving or have served and are just waiting for that moment of desperation when they know the country needs them once more to step into that awful role. They will be there for us, just as they have been since April 19th 1775.
I used to be able to put 7 of 10 rounds in a 20” bull from 500 yards using iron sights.
1000 yards is a whole different ballgame!
I had a buddy who had popped an NVA colonel from 1400 yards. The NVA officer was at a blackboard, delivering a lecture to troops sitting on three rows of benches. Talk about psychological warfare! That must have really messed with their minds.
Can't ever say I met all snipers but all I'VE met were hunters first with danged good vision( 20/10) and they lived for the kill. I was fortunate to have served as a spotter and occasional shooter. Our "line" came from the 'nam area,"Pink Mist, or "misted' but we had more colorful names. I'm proud to say I learned from my 'nam vet peers. It's a danged beautiful site when you get that head shot and the bad guy doesn't even know he's dead yet.
This bloke be one good lad( If'n I got me English down a tad."
