When Was The Last Time You Took Eleven Days Off?

The Washington Post says, "Even though it was called a vacation, the trip to Obama's childhood home was hardly the holiday most Americans seek."

My three questions to you are:

1) How many days long was your last vacation?

2) How long ago was it?

3) Did you contact your work while gone?

My husband finally took a full week off with no contact to work over the 4th of July. It was a mandatory non-paid shutdown. Otherwise, he hasn’t been off more than 2 days at a time since our honeymoon. We’ll be married 25 yrs this April.

I rarely take long vacations. The last vacation of one week or more was in 2007 (11 days).

I do better if I take no more than a few (2 to 4) days at a time, and I do that frequently. But seldom am I not doing at least a little work during that time.

Mind you, it’s not because I have to; I like to work, and I like what I do.

My favorite thing to do is to combine a business trip with a day or two “off”, and take Mrs. Tick along.

I had 4 days off last year other than weekends. (worked a few of those too)

During those 4 days the phone rang every day with things for me to handle.

The year before that I had no days off except most weekends.

The year before that I missed a week of work due to surgery.

The year before THAT I didn’t miss one single day, AND worked a bunch of Saturdays too.

I am not complaining. Nor do I think I am atypical for a private sector non union employee.

My heart bleeds for the poor scumbag Obama.

His “childhood home” was a 2 bedrooom apartment, not a $4000 per day beachfront compound.

The press is just bleeding from the pores that poor obama’s vacation got messed up by al qaeda attacking another US airliner and 7 CIA agents getting blown off the earth’s face by the taliban. How inconsiderate of the boychild’s need for downtime.

No one interrupted “the sheriff” Joe Biden on his vacation!

Vacations?? What are those? My husband of 30 years is a small business owner, we don’t do vacations. Only in the last 2 years were we able to spend ALL the holidays with him. Usually we spent Christmas &/or Thanksgiving without him. Due to work shortages he was home both holidays this year, but I am sure he’d have been working had the jobs been there. O we did fly out for 3 days for our daughters wedding, but most of his crew were there as well!

Poor little zero — he had to work on his vacation. As opposed to Bush, who probably didn’t work at all when he went to TX — at least according to the drive-by media.

Every President is “on call” during his vacation. Why is this POS so special in the media’s eyes???? Disgusting how much they love him.

Like the msm had headlines that 13-15 minutes (reports vary by two minutes) after finally being notified, he was off in the motorcade to the gym - NOT.

My last vacation was one week (5 working days), this past summer, and yes I called in to the office.

The longest I’ve ever been away from work was seven years ago, when my wife and I spent almost a month in Russia. However, since we were there to adopt a child I would not exactly call it a vacation. Both of us were fortunate to work for very supportive employers who bent over backwards to help us make it happen, so we both still had jobs when we got back with our baby boy.

I don’t remember EVER having 11 days off, unless it was in a period when I was unemployed, part of a winter, maybe 30 years ago.
So basically Obama seems to be unemployed.
We’re all paying for the Solid Gold Vacations for the Golden Boy and his Golden Family.
Well, they deserve it.
I am still so guilty over slavery that I’m willing to
work overtime to grant all kinds of luxuries to a half-white Muslim whose father was an African who went to Harvard, while my father was born to immigrant Italians, never made it through high school, yet supported a family of three by working as a carpenter. Yeah, all is well in America.

I have not been on a vacation without a cell phone since 1997. I have not been on a vacation without a Blackberry and a laptop since 2002. I have not taken a vacation uninterrupted by work since the early 90s. And I have never taken an 11-day vacation in my life, let alone an 11-day vacation paid for by someone else. Our “president” is a narcissistic dilettante, on top of everything else.

Every President works 24/7. There is no real vacation. The WH goes with him regardless of location. I said the same thing when Bush was criticized by the Left and the MSM for taking too many “vacations.” It is silly that the MSM feels compelled to defend Obama in this regard.

When you're EEO, work is the exception, vacation is the norm...especially in this gig where you get free everything in the lap of luxury.

I finally retired, but all the years I worked, I had to work overtime for 4 weeks to get ready to take a week off, and then my desk would be a foot deep in junk when I got back.

But then, that's probably why bahhhhhhhhry has all those czars, to run the country while he plays. Why not? They tell him everything to do anyway.

But, eleven days off? Unless you count in '92 when I had bypass surgery (and believe me, I'd rather been at work), can't remember eleven days off in a row, ever.

Insofar as calling in, I always did. I made President's Club back in 96 and we were treated to a 4 day trip to Puerto Rico...I was administrator for an app I wrote, and I took my laptop with me, dailed in everyday to answer questions and do any tweaks necessary.

This clown is making a pure mockery out of the presidency, and is flipping us the finger if we don't like it.

immature brat

“””Could you imagine if Bush was on the beach in Hawaii when there were so many people without jobs?”””

Good Lord, the media would pounce on him non-stop the entire time, and then for months after he came back.

But to answer the question:
Last vacation was October for 16 days (two weeks plus additional weekend)
No I did not contact work. My work and my home are two different places and I do not carry one into the other.
I get more vacation but mostly take them as 3 or 4 day weekends scattered throughout the year.

There is a difference between “working” 24/7 and being “On-Call.” Yes he had to stop golfing a couple times to get reports on how we lucked out from loosing 300+ Americans to a terror plot. Hope it didn’t put him out. But are you going to say his Hawaii trip doesn’t count as vacation?

1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009.

In each case, at least 30 days off (some of it unpaid). It is needed, and I am amazed that people here argue it is not. Life is too short to spend every day working.
