Eight years ago, a terrorist bombers attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner was thwarted by a group of passengers, an incident that revealed some gaping holes in airline security just a few months after the attacks of Sept. 11. But it was six days before President George W. Bush, then on vacation, made any public remarks about the so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and there were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response was sluggish or inadequate.
That stands in sharp contrast to the withering criticism President Barack Obama has received from Republicans and some in the press for his reaction to Fridays incident on a Northwest Airlines flight heading for Detroit.
Democrats have seized on the disparity and are making it a centerpiece of their efforts to counter GOP attacks on the White House. This hypocrisy demonstrates Republicans are playing politics with issues of national security and terrorism, DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan said. That they would use this incident as an opportunity to fan partisan flames
tells you all you need to know about how far the Republican Party has fallen and how out of step with the American people they have become.

What heat is this lefty tool from Politico talking about?
Oh right, the heat from the sun after playing 3 straight days of golf.
Let me see... did they leave out the part of “THE SYSTEM WORKED?”
Oh, yeah? Well you guys have someone who's *playing* President and pretending we don't have a WOT!!
President Obama takes the heat President Bush did not
........................................................
Might be something to do with everything the idiot has said and not said. The apology tours. The Snorkeling. Ft. Hood: Don’t jump to conclusions. Detroit air scare: Isoltaed extremist. Etc...
And so 0bama permits Interpol supra-national powers to get Bush and go after any CIA operative anywhere.
Hey, the system worked. Reid didn’t blow up the plane and he got a beat-down from the passengers and crew.
OUR system worked.
Obama is getting “Katrina’ed”. How’s it feel, comrade?
this article is straight-foward apologetics (sp?) i’ts very wussy
These people thrive on double standards.
Richard Reid’s dad didn’t walk into a US embassy and report his son as being a terrorist.

The lame media makes the GOP look like they have a spine.
geez.. tit 4 tat..only diffrence is obozo makes screwed up and don’t care about US where President Bush messed up some but he CARES about US ..think about it..you betcha ><>
It is. The author had a tingle up the leg, as they say..
>> President Obama takes the heat President Bush did not
Hawaii can get hot.
What a load. Barry doesn’t know what “heat” is! Both kinds. The author is a moron.
The difference is that Obama IS WEAK and the terrorists know it.
LIARS!!!
Uh, yeah. Obommba has the benefit of eight years of comprehensive terrorism-fighting handed to him. Bush did not. Man up boy king.
I see. The facts of the matter are so apparent that to lie their way out of this embarrassment is not do-able. So now they change the subject (Alinskey style) and attack the Republicans. Nice try Hari Sevugan. We are on to your tricks. It is our job to keep the Obama regime doing theirs. It is called the system of checks and balances. It works much much better than what comes out of a closed political system like Fascism, Socialism, Maoism, Communism or what you useless tools try to push on us.
We had this panty bomber handed to us on a platter....and we still screwed it up. Then there's the CIA folks who just got blown up....
Doggone it. Didn’t the Clinton administration refuse to give briefings to the Bush team until the election was final? Didn’t the outgoing administration brats trash the offices as they left? Am I the only one who thinks this kind of sabotage harmed the nation’s security?
If Bush had done this to the Obama operatives, they’d be in jail.
By the time the shoe bomber struck, Bush had already proven himself. He’d already invaded two nations, locked terrorists up at Club Gitmo, and created the Dept. of Homeland Security.
What heat is this lefty tool from Politico talking about?
Oh right, the heat from the sun after playing 3 straight days of golf.
>What heat is this lefty tool from Politico talking about?
From Michelle not wanting to go back to Washington.
The Obamao Syndicate can thank Michael Moore and the leftist lunatics who ridiculed Bush for taking six minutes to collect his thoughts upon hearing about 911.
Someone refresh my memory. What was Bush doing in the six days he took to make a public response about the Richard Reid incident? I bet he wasn’t playing golf.
Obamao is a joke, and the rest of the world, including Islamic terrorists have figured it out. There’s no hypocrisy on the part of Americans who are pointing out his short comings.
That Bush had proven himself as a committed defender by the time of the Reid attack is true, but ...
Reid's failed attack was on Dec. 22, 2001. Iraq was invaded in March, 2003. The Dept. of Homeland Security was established at the end of 2002. As for when terrorists were first taken to Gitmo, I couldn't find an exact date. A Wiki entry says that detainees first arrived in early 2002. Some other sources say October, 2001.
great post
RUBBISH!!! Utter RUBBISH!
On the economy, Bush passed up an opportunity to criticize Senate Democrats for blocking a GOP stimulus bill.
Talk about a change in demeanor. Bush was trying a stimulus (I'm pretty sure that meant "tax cut") and the Democrats were blocking him and he didn't want to get nasty and give them a hard time.
Obama is a child. Bush had faults, but he was a man.
Ain't that the truth!!
Speechless in Houston.
What a load.
HOw is Barry taking the “heat” that Bush did not when at every turn, this lametard idiotic jack squat of a president and his administration are blaming the previous Bush administration. I call BS on libtard stuck on stupid and idiocy Politico.
The terrorists seem to suffer from faulty ignition systems.
And alert passengers.
Is the DNC really suggesting that the way Bush was treated should be the way Obama is treated? I hope so.
It's that and that they create their own reality on a moment-to-moment basis out of their immediate emotional states. It hardly matters the criticism Bush got over his immediate response to 9/11 because this about liberals feeling victimized by any criticism of Obama.
Agree.
It was 7 minutes as he finished reading to the children, not wanting to panick little kids. The planes had hit and everything was being taken care of for the moment, the only way it could have been, with or without him.
Exactly. And let’s not forget Peter Jennings, main anchor on ABC, on that very day (9/11) continuously bemoaning “Where is the President?” when The USSS wouldn’t let him fly back to DC, which was thought to still be under attack.
Any one remember Hillary! asking “What did the president know, and when did he know it?” about Pres Bush, as if he was Nixon sending out the plumbers? Oh, they all smirked over that one! Chrissy Matthews had a good chuckle. How ‘bout the donks going mad with anger at the White House selling a fund raiser photo of Pres Bush looking out the Air Force One window?
And the constant, “How dare you question MY patriotism!!??” every time we opened our mouths in reply.
I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ONE BIT OF SHITE THESE BA$TARD$ GAVE US TO GET A LEG UP POLITICALLY!!!!
The media and the donks = EPIC FAIL!!!!
No, they are not. They're simply clouding the water so people won't figure out the scam that was planned between the Clintons and Obama back in 2004 when he gave his convention speech that rocked the Party.
The entire primary between the Queen of Spades and the Spade from Chicago was rope-a-dope for the masses. And, for losing, she got another rung-up on her resume as Secretary of State?- not bad for a 'loser'.(let's see- Senator, Secretary of State- sounds unbeatable to me- definately trumps any governor, don't cha know)
Steppin' Fetch himself admitted that getting HealthCareReform was worth a 'one term' presidency. Now, why would he say that? 'Cause the fix was in, and 2012 was to be Hillary's come Hell or High Water. Once the people are Jiggy with another monsterous federal social program, you've just about got them (and your future lock on power) in your hands for what, another 100 years? The plan is FDR on steroids, as will be it's lasting effect on elections thereafter.
Bill Clinton's hand is so far up this guy's tailpipe he can only read from a 'prompter'. Why? Because Bill owes it to his bride for his bimbo eruptions, that's why, and, they had an Arkansas pact- you get elected, then, I get elected first woman president- a legacy usually bestowed upon those worthy of a god-like reputation, where history will be the judge and the hand of Fate, in this instance, will have to respond to some arm-twisting.
Dithering on troop levels in Afganistan? Hardly, Bill had him by the short-hairs and you'd stay focused on passing HealthCareReform (HillaryCare v.2) too, if you were him.
Terrorist attacks a plane on Christmas Day? Most people would be jumping mad at the concept. But, you'd be slow to respond too with Bill's grip on your 'teabag'- remember, you've got Health Care to Destroy.
Economy in a shambles, foreclosures off the dial, unemployment at two figures and climbing, and you've nothing to offer small businesses in relief? The one sector of the economy that can put people back to work and you snub them? Yes. Because you have to get HealthCareDestruction done or things could get dicey, Arkansas dicey, Fort Marcy Park dicey, balls-in-a-vice, dicey. Chicago thug, meet Arkansas thug.
Chilihead kills healthcare and spends the next three years plugging Hillary's image abroad. But, there are two things on the horizon they aren't preparing for (stain on a blue dress times two): Iran could set the Middle East on fire- highlighting some serious failures at State, or, the Hagglebeast goes to her mirror- mirror, mirror on the wall and is met repeatedly with the image of a girl from Alaska.
See, Fate doesn't like having her arm wrestled behind her back any more than anyone else, and will do what she can to throw a wrench in some peoples' plans. As Slim Shady dives on the HealthCare sword with visions of a UN appointment and sugarplum fairies dancing in his head, it becomes quite clear who'll be running in 2012. It'll be Hillary versus someone else. I'll defer to the wisdom of Ms. Fate as to who that might be. Then, I'll vote for Sarah.
Excellent analysis/rant! Good to see someone gets it!
Thanks for reminding me that facts are stubborn things.
