MSNBC’s Shuster: Brit Hume ‘Denigrated’ Christianity With Tiger Woods Comment
NewsBusters ^ | January 4, 2010 | Kyle Drennen

During the 3PM ET hour of live coverage on MSNBC, anchor David Shuster claimed that Fox News political analyst Brit Hume "denigrated Christianity" when suggesting that scandal-ridden golfer Tiger Woods convert to the faith.

Shuster made the comments while discussing the issue with MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan, asking: "Doesn’t it also denigrate Christianity when you do that on a Sunday political talk show? This isn’t church, this isn’t some sort of holy setting, this is a political talk show....Doesn’t that minimize the significance of Christianity, when you bring a discussion of Christianity into a conversation about politics?"

Buchanan replied: "He’s not denigrating Christianity....A lot of us feel that there ought to be more discussion of religion in politics and religious beliefs and what’s moral and right and wrong."

Only a simpleton like Shuster would assert that a scandal involving a golfer is “political”.
I hope Fox News has the good sense to continue to completely ignore these people with zero ratings.

If this incident had taken place at MSNBC it would have been illegal in shisters eyes because the MSNBC is a government institution.

This is a subliminal brain fart.

The MSM is a government agency in his little pea brain.

He uses the “denigrate” remark because he can’t quite say what he really wants to.

Separation of church and state! ZAP! ZAP!POP.... POP! goes the Libtard brain.

OK, This is a rambling statement I just made.
Does it make any sense?

How would it denigrate Christianity? Aren’t Christians supposed to witness anywhere, in a mud hut, a brothel, a ward of the lepers dying?? Even MSNBC??

Albeit plenty of Lefties will be head bobbing on his comments; the rest of us know Christianty needs no defense from Shuster and the only denigration is Shuster's pretense as defender of Christianity and ascribing wrongdoing to Britt Hume for even mentioning what to these people is simply 'unmentionable'.

We can only imagine the 'roar' that reverberated through the sanctuaries of MSM when Brit's words of advice to Tiger left his lips and headed to Tiger's ears.

SHUSTER: But Pat, he was denigrating Buddhism in the process. And people who are Buddhist say that’s simply not true. I mean, look, here’s a statement from somebody who’s a Buddhist-

Here's another statement from somebody who is a Buddhist... If you took offense at what Brit said you're not practicing Buddhism.

But it’s OK for the MSM to denigrate Christianity every chance they get by painting Christians as extremist whack jobs and never suggesting that discrimination and hate against Christians is the same as when it’s against persons from other religious beliefs.

Way to go, Mr. Hume.

The truth is a two edged sword. As soon as it leaves your lips it starts cutting through lies. Sounds like Shuster got wounded.

For sure; and that 'roar' was the sound of the wounded. Am just wondering if their disenfranchised wisdom will dictate that they 'drop this'; or will they keep howling and bring more denigration upon themelves. Britt we know, walks the high road and for these trolls; he is not an easy victim.

I found Shuster’s choice of the word, ‘denigrate’, much more interesting than Brit’s comment regarding the accessibility of redemption

I wouldn’t know this David Schuster if I ran into him in the street. But Brit Hume is one of about three public conservative men who, when they are speaking, I drop what I’m doing to hang onto every word. Krauthammer and Rush are the other two.

Amen !

That took guts to say, I am sure he knew how it would be seen...and he did it anyway.

Way to go Britt !

I saw the same thing, I was really moved by what he said and how he professed his faith, it was very invigorating to see and hear. Brit Hume is pretty low key and yet even in with his low key demeanor you could see the passion he feels. I loved it!

Couldn’t agree more - and Hume seems to know of what he speaks - I believe his son committed suicide - has to be very hard to live with...

I’m with Schuster, and am reminded of the time Jimmah Cotta supposedly was inquiring into the condition of Anwar Sadat’s soul.
