WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele offers a simple explanation for why the GOP all too often lost touch with typical Americans since the Ronald Reagan era: "We screwed up," he claims in a new book offering a blueprint for the party's resurgence.
That "we" includes the last two Republican presidents and the most recent Republican candidate for president.
In "Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda," released Monday by Regnery Publishing, Steele says the GOP should acknowledge where "we most glaringly compromised our principles" in the past decade and hold its elected officials accountable.
"We must support Republican officials who assert these principles," he writes. "When elected Republicans vote against Republican principles, the voters must withhold their support -- withhold it vigorously and consistently."

You betch'ya.
Not one wasteful social program was eliminated. Half the country is still feeding off the public teat. Schools are still indoctrination centers, and today they're worse than ever.
If the Republican party goes back to it's conservative roots and regains power, it has a LOT of cleaning up to do. Will they have the guts to do the right thing this time?
and Michael Steele is a prime example of that screw-up....
Look at Califs Republican Governor, Arnold Wimponator. He recently announced he gave Dear Leaders performance as Prez thus far an A.
With Repubs like that, who needs enemies?

Yup.
Saw it this morning on loca news - The state of California is getting 50 Billion stimulus dollars sooooo..
The bigger problem tho is the gUb has been furloughing folks that process requests for stimulus funding.. so the money may languish around and not get spread around anytime soon.
and now, he faces actually having to layoff and reduce pay for workers. good luck, Ca GoP.
Proof’s in the pudding. We’ll have to see what the GOP does in this election cycle, and what candidates they choose to support.
