In a gripping, exclusive e-mail from Hawaii, the radio talker’s lady love, West Palm Beach resident Kathryn Rogers, gave Page2Live a dramatic play-by-play of what really happened before Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital.
And while Limbaugh told the media at his release from the hospital on New Year’s Day that doctors didn’t find anything wrong, Rogers’ intimate account indicates that, without the proper response, the outcome could have been different.
Rogers, 33, a VIP manager for the upcoming Super Bowl, said she was having her nails done with her mother downstairs at the chi-chi Kahala when she received an unusual phone call from the conservative voice.
“At lunch, Rush was in a fantastic, upbeat mood,” Rogers wrote, adding that she and Limbaugh traveled to Hawaii to visit her family. “I sent a text to him in the spa to tell him it was great to see him so relaxed and happy. He wrote back ‘thank you’.
“Later, I received another text from Rush. I didn’t look at it . . . Within two minutes he called.
“Due to Rush’s (hearing loss), we don’t often speak over the phone, more via e-mail and text,” Rogers continued. “When I saw that he was calling, I thought that’s weird he never calls. I answered with my one free hand. Rush said ‘Kate, I think I’m having a heart attack!’ in a very stressed tone. I hung up, pushed back the nail table and yelled to my mom: ‘Rush is having a heart attack! Call 911!’”
Rogers ran up to Limbaugh’s suite.

“As I entered, Rush was standing holding his chest, red face, sweating, all the makings of a heart attack,” Rogers wrote. “I said, ‘Oh my God,’ and sat him down telling him the ambulance is on the way. Within minutes the hotel managers and security team were in the room.
“The pain was worsening and the scene was extremely scary. I kept reassuring Rush that the ambulance was on the way. The (hotel) security staff . . . put Rush on the floor and gave him an aspirin. His symptoms continued to escalate and we were all very scared. The paramedics arrived and began to evaluate Rush on the floor. He was administered nitro(glycerin) and we were rushed to Queen’s Medical Center.”
Rogers described how she stayed up the following night to watch over Limbaugh, who turns 59 next week. He spent the next day getting tested. Limbaugh and Rogers celebrated New Year’s Eve by watching the ball drop in New York City on the tube from his hospital room.
“The doctors did say while this was not a full-blown massive heart attack, timing was extremely important,” Rogers wrote. “We believe strongly the quick action on the part of the security team at the hotel and the paramedics resulted in Rush being O.K. today.”
Under normal circumstances, Rogers wrote, she’d wait before calling 911, because of “privacy concerns.” But this time around, something told her not to waste time.
Rogers wrote that she agreed to provide details of the couple’s ordeal in the hope that readers who may end up in similar situations will not hesitate to seek help quickly.
Limbaugh is scheduled to return to his Palm Beach mansion on Tuesday, and to the EIB airwaves Wednesday. He will be evaluated by top cardiologists in Florida over the next few weeks, Rogers said.

My opinion is that Rush is that while Rush can read the stitches on a political fastball, he doesn’t have a clue about women. That’s what prenups are for.

Nice looking couple. With the little to no makeup she’s wearing, it’s clear she naturally very pretty. And she saved Rush’s life......that’s a keeper in my book.
This story supports the theory of why married men live longer, they have someone to turn to in times of need.
I know Rush isn’t married, but she was right there for him, just as a wife would have been.

My theory is that the pain was caused by the half of Rush’s brain that he keeps tied behind his back struggling to get free.
Exactly. I don't care how she looks or how many wrinkles she has. If she stood by Rush at his hour of need, that alone makes her a Goddess. And she is beautiful by the way.
Careful albie, the last time I wrote that here I was flamed with so many nasty comments.
After a day in intensive care, I was able to put two and two together. What happened was a small amount of stomach contents had come to the top of my esophagus and some spilled into my windpipe. When I sat up it went down into my bronchial tubes and cause immediate and very intense pain.
I use a acid reducer now and never eat a large meal and then lie down for a nap or anything else. I never want a repeat of that day and it has not happened since.

It seems unlikely she would do it without Rush’s approval.

That was my first thought, too. I don’t recall hearing anything from any of Rush’s previous GFs or wives. Why is this one speaking out? But - she might be very nice and crazy about Rush. I hope so.
Good Grief. I’ve never seen such hyper scrutiny. The woman is 33 years old, she’s very attractive and not slathered in make-up. Wrinkled???? She looks 45, not 33??? I’m not seeing it at all. I see a good looking 33 year old woman, you would think she’s a hag if you just read the comments and didn’t see the picture.
I thought I read it on FR that they were engaged. This is the only source of news I get so I can’t imagine anywhere else I would have gotten it. Of course I could be wrong about the news, but I don’t think so.
