Still, the oil and gas industry slammed the new policy.

"In what has become increasingly familiar double-talk from this administration, Interior Secretary Salazar today again spoke of the importance of domestic oil and natural gas, while making it more difficult to produce American oil and gas, put more Americans back to work and help restore our nation's economy," said Jack Gerard, president of the American Petroleum Institute.

Yeah, Salazar—makes a lot more sense to just send more petrodollars to the ragheads that want to kill us.

Great energy policy.

I do not think this is an issue now as drilling in those areas is much more expensive than drilling in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, but it will be a problem when oil reaches $120.00.

But, $120.00 will be great for an oil industry that has been kicked around.

would take a more active role in deciding which parcels of federal lands should be leased instead of relying on energy companies to nominate the areas they want to explore.

This would be funny if it was not true.

They already dictate how to build cars and make loans. They want to tell your doctor how to practice medicine and now they want to tell energy companies how to explore for oil. How do people NOT see the stupidity in all of this?

Let’s live like Norway, oh but not the offshore drilling part, we will just lease our oil fields out to China instead that will be a bang up job for the environment.....

It’s my understanding that it takes 3-5 years just to get the permits to drill today. They want to lengthen the process? To who’s benefit? The Saudi’s?

Ken Salazar should label this left wing nut job policy as the “American Energy Suicide” policy. What we really need is gas prices to skyrocket in the face of inflation and high unemployment. In other words, it’s the Jimmy Carter redux. Then, all you need is a Republican conservative leader with some cojones to run for office in 2012. In the mean time, let’s hope that the Congress can be totally reshaped this November and rid our hallowed Capitol of Pelosi and Reid.

It seems like a policy to make us dependent upon Arab oil more and more rather than less and less.

Maybe the Interior Secretary would prefer we cut down all the forest and use wood to heat our homes & businesses, generate our electricity.

Morons, all of 'em!

The policies of the left are in no way intended, in sum, to support 300 million people...they must be thinking of maybe 50 million at best, to be supported by equivalent future energy, infrastructure, food and water, services, healthcare fespecially included, etc. Also, with China controlling 97% of the 17 rare earth elements, many necessary for the ‘green’ revolution technology, the US will not be a leader in any green ‘revolution’ production....China will.

Why could anyone in their right mind vote for these clowns? Increasing the costs of energy in the middle of a recession/depression?

American voters, you got some ‘splainin to do!

Ken Salazar, your slowing of the permiting process is keeping me out of work. May I have a discussion with you in a cage? Two in only one leaves. Got it?
