I said this yesterday. These retirements are NOT Rats jumping from a sinking ship. In every case there is at least a viable alternative waiting to jump in. And they don’t have the baggage of the incumbent. This is strategy. The Rats have a deep bench.

They are parachuting guys with dismal ratings and bringing in fresh faces to hold those seats. It may save a few Democratic seats in a Republican year.
