Posted on 01/07/2010 1:31:39 PM PST by Gunder

Former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-NY) is mulling a run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) this year, the Staten Island Advance reports.

Molinari "said she is being urged to run by her father, former Congressman and Borough President Guy Molinari, and by former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, both of whom called her yesterday."

I think that on defense and economic issues she’d be fine.

She should run for “The woman with the biggest calves” instead of public office.

Didn’t she and her congressman husband drop off the face of the earth a decade ago? What was that all about? Seems to me that even the NY GOP (gag) can do better than this.

My first response was no, but it would take a modern miracle to get a real conservative elected in NY. There just aren’t any that would have a shot at winning this race. Rudy would have been better because he could have brought some firepower on a lot of our key issues, but he’s not a conservative on a bunch of other issues and may end up pissing us off when voted with the Dems on guns and social issues.

Susan was a pretty good Rep and could actually give Gillibrand a run for her money. Interesting development.

The debates would be fun. Gillibrand is an obvious lightweight. Say what you will about Molinari, she’s tough.

Lots!!!!

we are outnumbered of course but considering NYS population numbers, there are millions of us here.... ...but the RINOs, Progressive Commies, regular Dhimmicrats, are, unfortunately, the Majority.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Rep Peter King MUST be the Republican nominee for the NY Senate seat. There’s no guarantee that Gillibrand won’t be challenged in the primary. Former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford is reportedly considering running, and IMO, King is the ONLY Republican who beats all Democrat comers. Not Molinari, not Lazio, just King.

Unless of course Bill Clinton jumps in. (Don’t laugh!)

Somehow I'd gotten the impression that Rudy was promoting Rick Lazio. Maybe that was for the governor's race.

In any case, it would take a miracle to get a true conservative .... like James L. Buckley .... elected Senator from New York.
